Provided are a toner containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, the toner having a specific hue angle and an absorbance at a specific wavelength in reflectance spectrophotometry, and a full-color image-forming method involving the use of the toner, the method including the steps of: forming an electrostatic image on a charged electrostatic image bearing member; developing the formed electrostatic image with the toner to form a toner image; transferring the formed toner image onto a transfer material; and fixing the transferred toner image to the transfer material to form a fixed image.

Full-color image-forming method

Toner characterized in that assuming that the glass transition point of the toner measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) is represented by T(&#xb0; C.), in a micro compression test at T&#x2212;10 (&#xb0; C.), when a load from 0.00N (0.00 mgf) to 7.85&#xd7;10N (80.00 mgf) is applied at the intervals of 7.85&#xd7;10N (0.08 mgf) to a single particle of the toner, the strain value A(%) at 7.85&#xd7;10N is 35.0 to 75.0%; and in a load (x-axis)-strain (y-axis) curve obtained by the micro compression test, the ratio of an area (S) of a specific region, relative to an area (S) of a specific region, (S/S), is 1.5 to 3.5.

Toner

Provided is a toner including toner particles each containing a binder resin, a colorant, and a wax, and inorganic fine particles, the toner having such a characteristic that a temperature-storage elastic modulus curve at a high frequency shows a characteristic change in its behavior in a specific temperature region with respect to a temperature-storage elastic modulus curve at a low frequency.

A toner in which, in a loss tangent (tan &#x3b4;) curve obtained by a dynamic viscoelasticity test, the tan &#x3b4; shows a maximal value &#x3b4;a in the temperature region of 28.0-60.0&#xb0; C., which maximal value &#x3b4;a is 0.50 or more, and shows a minimal value &#x3b4;b in the temperature region of 45.0-85.0&#xb0; C., which minimal value &#x3b4;b is 0.60 or less, where the difference between the maximal value &#x3b4;a and the minimal value &#x3b4;b is 0.20 or more; and, where the temperature that affords the maximal value &#x3b4;a is represented by Ta (&#xb0; C.) and the temperature that affords the minimal value &#x3b4;b is represented by Tb (&#xb0; C.), the difference between the Ta and the Tb is 5.0-45.0&#xb0; C.; and the toner having, in a storage elastic modulus (G') curve obtained by the dynamic viscoelasticity test, a value G&#x2032;a of a storage elastic modulus at the Ta, of 1.00&#xd7;10-5.00&#xd7;10Pa.

In a black toner having at least a binder resin and an iron-titanium composite oxide as a colorant; the iron-titanium composite oxide is contained in a specific amount; the black toner has a specific weight average particle diameter and a specific saturation magnetization; the black toner has, in X-ray diffraction thereof, a maximum peak at 2&#x3b8;=from 32.5 to 33.1 degrees, having a half width of 0.25 degree or less. The black toner has, in a proportion of less than 30% by number, an iron-titanium composite oxide having, in a sectional photograph of the toner, a maximum frequency of linearity within the range where the linearity is smaller than 2.4 and having a linearity of 3.0 or more, in regard to the number frequency distribution of the linearity of the iron-titanium composite oxide.

Black toner

A charge control resin containing a copolymer which has a unit having a sulfonic acid ester group having a specific structure and has the unit in specific proportions. The charge control resin can provide a toner with superior charging performance. Also disclosed is a toner having such a charge control resin.

The present invention provides: a toner kit having a deep toner and a pale toner which are separated from each other, wherein: the deep toner and the pale toner satisfy prescribed conditions for an L*a*b* color coordinate system where a* represents a hue in the red-green direction, b* represents a hue in the yellow-blue direction, and L* represents a lightness; the pale toner and the deep toner to be used in the toner kit; and a method for forming an image using the toner kit. The image forming apparatus has an image forming portion capable of forming an image on a transferring medium by the use of a hypochromatic toner and a hyperchromatic toner of substantially the same color. The image forming portion is provided with a developing device for developing with the hypochromatic toner and the hyperchromatic toner, wherein, in an image area in which the hyperchromatic toner and the hypochromatic toner are mixedly present, the recording rate of the hyperchromatic toner is 1/16, the minimum size Wmini of a toner image of the hyperchromatic toner is 50 &#x3bc;m or less on the transferring medium. Thereby, it is achieved to reduce graininess.

The present invention provides a toner that exhibits excellent low-temperature fixing properties, offset resistance, and has excellent storage stability in a developing machine. The toner has, in a DSC curve obtained by measuring the toner with differential scanning calorimeter, a glass transition temperature (Tg) measured in a first scan of 50.0 to 70.0&#xb0; C. and a temperature difference (Tg&#x2212;Tg) between the glass transition temperature (Tg) measured in the first scan and a glass transition temperature (Tg) measured in a second scan ranging from 3.0 to 20.0&#xb0; C.

A coloring agent for use in toners which comprises coloring particles modified with a surface modifier having in one molecule a hydrophilic moiety, a hydrophobic moiety, and a reactive moiety between the hydrophilic moiety and the hydrophobic moiety. Also disclosed is a toner comprising toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a coloring agent comprising the above surface-modified coloring particles.

A color image forming apparatus forms an image using a deep toner and a pale toner at least for one color such that the pale toner is used to form an image in a high lightness area, and the pale toner and the deep toner are used in combination to form the image in a half tone area. A toner kit has a deep toner and a pale toner which are separated from each other. A method for forming an image uses the color image forming apparatus, the toner kit, and the deep toner and the pale toner. A high quality image can be formed while inhibiting graininess and roughness over a broad image area.
