A driving control method is performed to execute a lane-change control for controlling a host vehicle to autonomously change lanes from a first lane to an adjacent second lane using a processor of a driving control device that controls vehicle speed and steering of the host vehicle traveling in the first lane in an autonomous driving mode. The processor determines that the lane-change control can be executed upon determining that the other vehicle has been detected in a detection zone of the second lane, based on a detection result of a sensor. The processor determines that the lane-change control cannot be executed upon determining that the other has not been detected within the detection zone of the second lane. The processor outputs information regarding whether the lane-change control can be executed.

A driving control device controls driving of a subject vehicle at a predetermined driving assistance level using a processor under a condition of traveling behind a preceding vehicle. An action load of the second acceptance input is set smaller than an action load of the first acceptance input.

When executing the autonomous lane change control of lane change of the subject vehicle from the subject vehicle lane in which the subject vehicle travels to adjacent lane, the autonomous lane change control is executed so as to accelerate the lateral speed of the subject vehicle in the subject vehicle lane and thereafter decelerate the lateral speed in the subject vehicle lane. As a result, it takes longer for the driver of the following vehicle to confirm the lateral movement of the preceding subject vehicle during the lane change of the subject vehicle from the start of the lane change than a lane change in which the lateral speed is decelerated in the adjacent lane. Therefore, it becomes easier to recognize the lane change.

An exit assist method is executed using an exit assist controller configured to control a subject vehicle to move from an exit start position to a target exit position along an exit route. The exit assist method includes determining whether or not an adjacent parked vehicle is present in an adjacent parking space to the exit start position, and when no adjacent parked vehicle is present, generating the exit route that includes the adjacent parking space.
