An object is to provide a gate valve capable of preventing operational deficiencies caused by particulate materials accumulating in a valve box, thus providing superior sealing properties and high durability, having a simple structure, and allowing inspection and maintenance to be performed easily. A gate valve installed in a transport line for transporting fluid containing particulate material at a coal gasification plant includes a valve box having an inlet portion and an outlet portion in which a channel constituting a part of the transport line is formed; a valve unit, provided between the inlet portion and the outlet portion, which extends in an opening-and-closing direction orthogonal to an axial direction of the channel, and which is movable in the opening-and-closing direction; a wedge plate provided between the valve unit and the inlet portion so as to extend in the opening-and-closing direction; and a guide plate provided between the valve unit and the outlet portion so as to extend in the opening-and-closing direction. Areas between the valve unit and the wedge plate and between and the valve unit and guide plate are sealed by means of surface contact.

Gate valve

A polyarylene sulfide resin composition having improved toughness and impact resistance is formed by 100 wt. parts of polyarylene sulfide and 0.5-50 wt. parts of a graft copolymer. The graft copolymer includes an olefin copolymer segment comprising .alpha.-olefin units and .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester units, and a grafting polymer segment comprising .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester units and chemically bonded to the olefin copolymer segment. The .alpha.-olefin is preferably ethylene. The .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester is preferably glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate. The grafting polymer segment is preferably in the form of a copolymer of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated acid glycidyl ester and a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer.

Polyarylene sulfide resin composition

The disclosure describes a flame-resisting resin composition comprising: (A) 90 to 99.5% by weight of a polyarylene sulfide; and (B) 0.5 to 10% by weight of a graft copolymer composed of an olefinic copolymer (a) having 30 to 59% by weight (based on the weight of said graft copolymer) of an .alpha.-olefin repeating unit and a glycidyl ester residue repeating unit of an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated mono-carboxylic acid, and at least one of polymers (b) having the repeating unit represented by the following formula (I): said olefinic copolymer (a) being branched or crosslinked with at least one of the polymers (b), ##STR1## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group having from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, X represents a benzyl group, --COOCH.sub.3, --COOC.sub.2 H.sub.5, --COOC.sub.4 H.sub.9, --COOCH.sub.2 CH(C.sub.2 H.sub.5)C.sub.4 H.sub.9, --CN, a phenyl group or a maleimide group.

Flame-resisting resin composition

Disclosed herein are a poly(arylene thioether-ketone) copolymer comprising (A) at least one poly(arylene thioether-ketone) segment having predominant recurring units of the formula ##STR1## wherein the --CO-- and --S-- are in the para position to each other, and (B) at least one poly(arylene thioether) segment having predominant recurring units of the formula ##STR2## (a) the ratio of the total amount of the poly(arylene thioether) segment (B) to the total amount of the poly(arylene thioether-ketone) segment (A) ranging from 0.05 to 5 by weight, (b) the number-average polymerization degree of the poly(arylene thioether) segment (B) being higher than 1 but lower than 10, and (c) said copolymer having a melt viscosity of 2-100,000 poises as measured at 350.degree. C. and a shear rate of 1,200/sec as well as a production process of the poly(arylene thioether-ketone) copolymer.

Poly(arylene thioether-ketone) copolymer and production process thereof
