A straddle type vehicle has a seat on which an occupant sits, a pair of right and left footboards provided diagonally below and in front of the seat and allowing the occupant to place his or her feet thereon, and a projecting portion provided between the footboards and projecting upward, wherein an engagement portion for fixing a load mounted on the projecting portion is provided on an upper face side of each of the footboards. The engagement portion for fixing the load is readily visible, and hence workability in operation of mounting and dismounting the load on the vehicle body increases.

Straddle type vehicle

A motorcycle includes an article storage structure and has a storage space for storing articles. The storage space is defined by a rear fender covering a rear wheel, a frame cover covering a rear portion of a motorcycle body, and a rider's seat and a passenger seat which are arranged in tandem in a longitudinal direction of the motorcycle. The storage space is provided with an onboard auxiliary machinery storage compartment for storing the onboard auxiliary machinery and an article storage compartment for storing the articles, which are formed with openings formed below the rider's seat and the passenger seat, respectively, to be opened or closed. An article holding member having a tubular shape, in which the article is stored, and having an upper end opening disposed within the article storage compartment is also disposed so as to extend rearward and upward from an upper surface of the rear fender below the rider's seat to a region of the article storage compartment.

Article storage structure of motorcycle

An electronic authentication system includes a vehicle-side control unit that judges whether ID information of an electronic key is identical to vehicle-side ID information, an ignition switch unit that permits engine starting operation and handle unlocking operation on the basis of the identity of the ID information of the electronic key to the vehicle-side ID information, and an actuator that unlocks an opening and closing lid such as a accommodation box lid. These component members are attached and fixed to a leg shield (an inner leg shield) and modularized. These members are preassembled into the inner leg shield and modularized like this, whereby the assembling work into the vehicle becomes very easy and it is possible to make the assembling work efficient to a great extent.

Motorcycle

A motorcycle includes an exhaust device connected to an engine unit, and the exhaust device includes: a plurality of first exhaust pipes forwardly extending from an exhaust port which opens in the front of the engine unit; a joint portion for joining the first exhaust pipes; a second exhaust pipe connected to a downstream side of the joint portion and passing below an oil pan disposed in a lower portion of the engine unit; and an exhaust expansion chamber connected to a downstream portion of the second exhaust pipe. A cowling of such a motorcycle includes: a front cowling covering the engine unit and the exhaust device from lower and side portions thereof; and a rear cowling partially covering a rider's seat. The front cowling is formed with an air-exhaust opening at a bottom surface of a rear end thereof positioned to a front lower surface of the exhaust expansion chamber.
