A technique of stably bonding a structure including a carbon nanotube with another structure is to be provided. Also, a nano-device that offers excellent performance and high production efficiency is to be provided. A polymer and a carbon nanotube are dispersed in a dispersion medium and on a filled liquid in a Langmuir trough, to obtain a carbon nanotube-based structure constituted of a carbon nanotube and the polymer wound around its rounded surface. The carbon nanotube-based structure is adhered to a substrate, and a ligand is immobilized on a side chain of the polymer. A receptor is immobilized on another carbon nanotube-based structure, and the both carbon nanotube-based structures are joined because of a specific interaction between the ligand and the receptor.

Where a point corresponding to a point of interest Pis not detected and a depth value thereof is not known and where points corresponding to surrounding points Pi and Pj are detected and depth values of the points Pi and Pj are known, a depth value of the point of interest Pis determined by interpolation. A provisional corresponding point is determined from the provisional depth value. A motion image processing method and device for authenticating a user using a specific device, using motion information of an object. Time series monochrome images, obtained by photographing an object, using a camera, are input. An object is detected from an initial frame of the input time series images, using a basic shape characteristic, and a plurality of reference points to be tracked are automatically determined in the object. Then, corresponding points of the respective reference points are detected in an image frame other than the initial frame among the input time series images. Subsequently, motion information of a finger is calculated, based on the result of tracking the respective reference points and an assumption of limited motion in a 3D plane. Based on the calculated motion parameter, a solid object is subjected to coordinate conversion, and displayed if necessary. As a result of the tracking, a reference point in each frame is updated. Tracking, motion parameter calculation, and displaying are repeated with respect to subsequent frames.

A parallel computer includes a plurality of processors arranged in a taurus mesh network, with each processor having a local memory, and a plurality of secondary storage units. The network is coupled to a host computer via a host interface. Interleave system information corresponding to the size of portions of a file to be divided and stored in the plurality of secondary storage units is also stored in the local memory of a processor. When the processor accesses the file, the interleave system information of the file in the processor local memory is referenced by the processor and the processor outputs a file transfer request in accordance with the interleave system information. In addition, when a file which is stored in accordance with given interleave system size information is to be accessed by another interleave system having different size information, it is recognized by a host interface that the access is by a different interleave system and the file can be stored again according to the different interleave system.
