The invention provides an ink jet recording medium comprising a support and an ink receiving layer provided on at least one surface of the support. In one embodiment, a center line average roughness average Ra of a surface of the ink-receiving layer, measured with a 2.5 mm measuring length and 0.8 mm cut-off value, is in a range of 0.3 &#x3bc;m or more but less than 0.8 &#x3bc;m. In another embodiment, a center line average roughness average Ra of the surface of the support measured with a 2.5 mm measuring length and 0.8 mm cut-off value, is preferably in a range of 0.3 &#x3bc;m or more but less than 1.0 &#x3bc;m. An image clarity of the surface of the ink receiving layer is preferably in a range of 2 to 40%.

Recording material

The present invention aims to provide a recording material support having superior excellent surface smoothness and water resistance compared to the related art, to a process for efficiently manufacturing this recording material support, to a recording material which can form an image having excellent quality and gloss using this recording material support, and to process for image formation using this recording material. For this purpose, the recording material support comprising at least raw paper satisfies at least one condition selected from the Cobb size (30 seconds) of the surface on the side provided with the image-forming layer of the support, Oken type smoothness, St&#xf6;kigt sizing degree, central square average roughness (SRa) and variation amount (&#x394;SRa) of SRa.

Recording material support, process for manufacturing the same, recording material and process for image formation

The present invention is directed to an electrophotographic image-receiving sheet capable of forming high quality images with brilliance, a sense of depth, good distinction, and high quality, and also to a process for image formation using this electrophotographic image-receiving sheet. The electrophotographic image-receiving sheet of the present invention is formed from a support, and a toner-image-receiving layer disposed on the support, in addition, regular reflectance of the surface of the toner image-receiving layer at 440 nm and at 560 nm is both 2% or more.

Electrophotographic image receiving sheet and process for image formation using the same

In the invention, a recording material containing a support having a recording layer thereon capable of forming a color by the application of heat and/or pressure is provided, and the material further contains at least one layer containing acetoacetyl-modified polyvinyl alcohol and a hardening agent between the support and the recording layer. The hardening agent is a compound having, in one molecule thereof, two or more vinyl groups adjacent to a substituent having a positive Hammett's substituent constant &#x3c3;p.

An image-receiving sheet for electrophotography is provided which is capable of forming an image having excellent gloss and image quality, wherein a polypropylene resin layer is formed in direct contact with both surfaces of a base paper and a toner image-receiving layer is formed on the surface of the surface-polypropylene layer. The polypropylene resin forming the polyproylene resin layers has a melt flow rate (MFR) of 18 to 50 and a density of at least 0.890. The image has an excellent gloss and a high quality and free from the blister formation and also from the easy peeling of the toner image-receiving layer even at a high fixing temperature. A polypropylene resin layer is formed on both surfaces of a base paper and the surface tension of the polypropylene resin layer on the toner image-receiving layer side is controlled at 48 dyne/cm or higher.

Image-receiving sheet for electrophotography

A recording material having a resin layer which contains a high concentration of a water-soluble resin such as polyvinyl alcohol, and which has excellent gas blocking property and flatness. Image defects such as non-uniform color and the like do not arise at the recording material. The recording material has, on a support, a recording layer which can form color due to application of heat and/or pressure thereto. At least one resin layer is provided between the support and the recording layer. The resin layer is formed by coating a low viscosity coating solution, and easily forms a flat surface by leveling.

Disclosed is a heat-sensitive recording material comprising a support comprised of a substrate and a thermoplastic resin layer formed thereon, and a heat-sensitive recording layer disposed on the support and containing a diazonium salt compound capable of being decomposed by ultraviolet light, wherein the thermoplastic resin layer is formed by melt extrusion and wherein the thermoplastic resin layer contains a fluorescent brightening agent and a white pigment. In the heat-sensitive recording material, the fluorescent brightening agent is preferably a compound represented by the following structural formula (I): Structural Formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 each represent a hydrogen atom, or a substituent group or a substituent atom.

Heat-sensitive recording material

The present invention provides a recording material comprising a substrate and a recording layer thereon characterized in that the oxygen transmission rate of the substrate, as measured in accordance with Method B of JIS K 7126, is not greater than 50 cc/m.sup.2 /day. If necessary, a protective layer is formed on the recording layer. The substrate is composed of a sheet of base paper and a plastic film layer present at least on the side of the paper which faces a recording layer to be formed. The plastic film layer is appropriately selected from the group consisting of a polyester film, a polyvinylidene chloride film, a polycarbonate film, a polyvinylchloride film and a film of a random copolymer of ethylene and vinylalcohol. The recording material according to the present invention is excellent in the long-term preservation of images, fading resistance and light fastness.

A multi-color heat-sensitive recording material including a support and two or more heat-sensitive recording layers formed on the support, wherein the support is a sheet-like substrate formed such that a resin layer is formed at least on the side of a base paper where the heat-sensitive recording layers are formed, and the surface of the sheet-like substrate on the side where the heat-sensitive recording layers are formed has a three-dimensional surface roughness of not more than 0.3 .mu.m as measured at a filter wavelength of 0.8 to 2.5 mm before thermal recording is performed. The three-dimensional surface roughness of the sheet-like substrate is not more than 0.4 .mu.m as measured at a filter wavelength of 0.8 to 2.5 mm after thermal recording is performed. The support is constructed of a sheet-like substrate having a resin layer on each of base paper. The rigidity of the sheet-like substrate as defined by JIS P8125 is 1.5 to 8.0 gf.multidot.cm, preferably 3.0 to 6.0 gf.multidot.m, as measured in a printing direction. Rigidity is adjusted by suitably selecting the thickness of the base paper, the basis weight, the kind of pulp, the thickness of the resin layer, etc.

The support member for photographic printing paper of the present invention has a coating layer which comprises white pigment and hydrophobic binder soluble in an organic solvent on a base material, whereby voids are formed in said coating layer. In the support member for photographic printing paper of the present invention, a white reflective layer is placed on a base material by coating and drying a coating composition, said coating composition contains a white pigment having titanium oxide as principal component and a binder having a copolymer of vinyl chloride - vinyl acetate and maleic acid anhydride soluble in organic solvent and having polymerization degree of 250 or more, said copolymer containing vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate and maleic acid anhydride by component ratio of 20-90 weight %: 5-50 weight %: 2-10 weight %. Thus, the support member can provide photographic image with high resolving power, has high bonding property with base material and silver halide emulsion layer, is easier to produce, and causes discoloring less frequently due to time or heat.
