A disk player with disk changer functions has an elevatable stacker for storing plural disks for playback. A mechanism or elevation of the stacker relative to a main body of the player includes a motor, a threaded shaft (95) rotated by the motor and a nut (96) fixed to the bottom of the stacker in engagement of the threaded shaft (95) to allow elevation of the stacker in response to rotation of the threaded shaft. The threaded shaft has a smaller diameter than a central aperture of the disk when received in the stacker. The fixed position of the nut may be adjusted to vary relative angular position with respect to the threaded shaft. A projection (96) may be inserted into one of a plurality of apertures (903) to vary or adjust the position of the nut relative to the shaft (95).

A disk player with disk changer functions and having a stacker for storing plural disks for playback allows a new disk to be added or disks to be changed without removing the stacker. The disk player is also convenient for playback of single disks not to be stored in the stacker. A single tray carrying one of disk-carriages is transportable between a loaded position inside the player and an ejected position outside the player, by means of a shuttle engageable with the tray. During further movement of the shuttle in the disk-loading direction, it is disengaged from the tray in the loaded position. Instead, the shuttle comes into engagement with the carriage formerly carried by the tray, to separate the carriage from the tray remaining in the loaded position and advance the same toward the stacker. The carriage is at last received fully in the stacker with the help of a spring, which releases engagement between the shuttle and the in-stacker carriage.

A disk playback device with disk changer functions and having a stacker for storing two or more disks for playback allows a new disk to be added or disks to be changed without removing the stacker. The disk playback device is also convenient for playback of single disks not to be stored in the stacker. Transport of the disks is accomplished by displacement of holders in which the disks are individually received. When a disk is in the read position, it is clamped in place and the holder is lowered to a nonobstructing position to allow the disk to be read. The number of holders exceeds the number of stored disks, whereby a vacant holder is available for conveniently reading a disk not stored in the magazine.

Disk playback device

A reel shaft is mounted in a recording and/or reproducing apparatus such as a DAT unit for rotating a reel hubs in a tape cassette loaded in a predetermined position in the apparatus to reel up a magnetic tape into the reel hubs. The reel shaft includes a plurality of vanes secured to the outer periphery of a rotating body and adapted to be in engagement with corresponding engaging members formed in the reel hub. The vanes define respectively ridges extending in alignment with a center line in width of the magnetic tape when the tape cassette is in a predetermined loaded position in the apparatus. The reel hub is rotated with the reel shaft through engagement between the vanes and the corresponding engaging members, which is effected at specific points located on the ridges of the respective vanes of the reel shaft. Through such engagement, the axis of the reel hub remains coincident with the axis of the reel shaft during rotation.
