In an operating apparatus of a high-pressure discharge lamp of the invention, power is supplied to a heater provided in a high-pressure discharge lamp from a battery. The battery is charged by a charger which is driven by a power section. The power section is started by an ON operation of a switch which is turned on/off synchronously with the operation of a control switch. The control switch allows power supply from the battery to the heater when it is turned on. Therefore, always while power is supplied to the heater, the battery is being charged by the charger so that the voltage of the battery will not be lowered.

Halogen incandescent lamp

A method of manufacturing a sealed-beam type electric bulb comprises steps of inserting external lead wires of a halogen lamp having a filament inside into two through holes formed in a plastic base plate, filling said through holes with a flowable adhesive, shifting said halogen lamp so that said filament is positioned at a predetermined position, curing said adhesive to bond said external lead wires to said plastic base plate after shifting said halogen lamp thereby fixing the halogen lamp to said plastic base plate and inserting said plastic base plate with said halogen lamp mounted thereon into an opening formed at the rear end portion of a plastic reflector, and fixing said plastic base plate at the rear end of said reflector, thereby positioning said halogen lamp within said reflector.

Method for manufacturing sealed-beam type electric bulb

A sealed beam lamp is provided, comprising a lamp envelope comprised of a reflector having an open front and a lens attached to the edge of the reflector, and a halogen bulb attached to the lamp envelope so as to face the lens and having a straight filament arranged along a direction of the diameter thereof and substantially parallel with the lens and a bulb envelope whose upper end surface portion is covered with a light-shielding layer except for those side wall portions of the bulb envelope facing the ends of the straight filaments.
