An electrophotographic member including a substrate, and an elastic layer on an outer peripheral surface of the substrate; wherein the elastic layer has silicone rubber, a tensile modulus of the elastic layer in a direction perpendicular to a thickness direction thereof is 0.20 MPa or less, a compressive modulus of the elastic layer in the thickness direction is 0.19 to 0.57 MPa, a value (tensile modulus/compressive modulus) of a ratio of the tensile modulus of the elastic layer in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction, relative to the compressive modulus of the elastic layer in the thickness direction, is 0.80 or lower, and a rate of decrease of each of the compressive moduli of the samples from the elastic layer in a direction corresponding to the thickness direction of the elastic layer is 5% or lower.

Electrophotographic member, heat fixing apparatus, and electrophotographic image forming apparatus

A fixing member includes a slide layer having a cylindrical shape and a thickness of 8 micrometers (μm) or more and 20 μm or less, a base layer formed on an outer side of the slide layer, and a surface layer formed on an outer side of the base layer. The slide layer has Benard convection cell structure having an average diameter of 50 μm or more and 200 μm or less on a surface that is not in contact with the base layer, and the slide layer includes an additive having a median particle diameter D50 of 4.5 μm or less and an aspect ratio of 30 or more and less than 50.

Fixing member

A fixing film includes a cylindrical base layer, an elastic layer formed on an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical base layer, and a separation layer formed on an outer peripheral surface of the elastic layer. The separation layer includes fluororesin, and a degree of orientation of the fluororesin is greater than or equal to 40% and smaller than or equal to 59%.

Fixing film

An electrophotographic member having an endless shape comprises: a substrate; and an elastic layer on an outer peripheral surface thereof. The elastic layer contains a silicone rubber and metal silicon fillers dispersed in the silicone rubber. An average of area ratios of the metal silicon fillers in respective first binarized images is 42% or less, and an average of area ratios of the metal silicon fillers in respective second binarized images is 42% or less. The elastic layer has λ of 1.30 W/(m·K) or more, where λ is a thermal conductivity of the elastic layer in a thickness direction thereof, and the elastic layer has ρV of 9.0 LOG Ω·cm or more, where ρV is a common logarithm value of a volume resistivity thereof.

Electrophotographic member and heat fixing device

A fixing belt includes a base member containing a metal, a sliding layer containing a filler and formed on a base member inner side, and a separation layer formed on a base member outer side. Assume that (i) a sliding layer cross section is obtained by cutting the sliding layer along a sliding layer thickness direction and is divided into sections each having a length that is the same as a sliding layer thickness in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction, and (ii) a ratio of a filler area to a sliding layer area in each cross section sections is an area ratio. A period coefficient is calculated using the formula (Ave %−Min %)/Ave %, where an average of area ratios of filler areas in all the sections is Ave % and a minimum of the area ratios is Min %, and the calculated period coefficient is 0.6 or more.

Fixing belt having increased surface roughness

A fixing member includes a substrate having an endless shape; and an elastic layer on an outer peripheral surface of the substrate, the elastic layer containing a silicone rubber and fillers dispersed in the silicone rubber, a content of the fillers with respect to the elastic layer being 35 vol % or more and 50 vol % or less. The fillers includes at least a first filler and a second filler. The first filler is at least one selected from the group consisting of: magnesium oxide; and zinc oxide. The second filler is at least one selected from the group consisting of metal silicon and silicon carbide. A proportion of a sum of the first filler and the second filler to a total amount of the fillers in the elastic layer is 90 vol % or more. Further, the average of 6 sets of representative coefficient A is 1.4 or more.

Fixing member and heat fixing device

A fixing member for electrophotography having an endless shape has a base layer having an endless shape, and an elastic layer on the outer circumferential surface of the base layer. The elastic layer includes a silicone rubber and a filler dispersed in the silicone rubber. The total amount of the filler compounded in the elastic layer is 30 vol % or less based on the total volume of the elastic layer. The elastic layer satisfies the relation of &#x3bb;td&#x3e;&#x3bb;md&#x3e;&#x3bb;nd. &#x3bb;td is a thermal conductivity of the elastic layer in the circumferential direction, &#x3bb;nd is a thermal conductivity of the elastic layer in the thickness direction, and &#x3bb;md, is a thermal conductivity of the elastic layer in the longitudinal direction. &#x3bb;td is 2.0 W/(m&#xb7;K) or more, and &#x3bb;nd is 1.3 W/(m&#xb7;K) or more.

Provided is an electrophotographic fixing member including an elastic layer having a low hardness while maintaining a high thermal conductivity and a high strength, the elastic layer being less liable to fracture even when repeatedly compressed in a high-temperature state. The fixing member for electrophotography includes a substrate, an elastic layer on the substrate, and a surface layer in the stated order, wherein the elastic layer contains a silicone rubber and a heat conductive filler dispersed in the silicone rubber, wherein the heat conductive filler is metal oxide particles, or metal particles each having a surface at least part of which is formed of a metal oxide, and wherein the elastic layer further contains a charge control agent negatively chargeable with respect to the heat conductive filler.

Electrophotographic fixing member, fixing device, and electrophotographic image forming apparatus

A rotatable endless fixing belt configured to fix a toner image borne on a recording material includes a base body and a polyimide layer. The polyimide layer is formed on an inner-circumferential-surface of the base body and configured to slide on a backup member in contact with the backup member. The polyimide layer includes filler having shape anisotropy. An orientation ratio of the filler inclined with respect to a generating line of the fixing belt by a predetermined angle or less is smaller in a first area than in a second area in a cross section of the fixing belt taken along the generating line of the fixing belt, the first area being an area formed in an inner-circumferential-surface side of the polyimide layer in a thickness direction, the second area being an area formed in a base-body side of the polyimide layer in the thickness direction.

A fixing apparatus includes an endless belt, and a pressing member including a base body and an elastic layer formed on the base body. A plurality of pore portions connected to each other are provided in the elastic layer. An image heating member for heating an image formed on a recording material includes a base material, an elastic layer which contains a thermally conductive filler of 5 &#x3bc;m or more in average diameter and which is provided on the base material, and a parting layer which is provided on the elastic layer so as to contact the elastic layer and which is formed of a fluorine-containing resin tube provided on the elastic layer. The fluorine-containing resin tube has 3% or more in heat contraction rate with respect to a widthwise direction of the image heating member before and after the fluorine-containing resin tube is heated and left standing in an oven at 200&#xb0; C. for 30 minutes.

The present invention is directed to providing a fixing member that can form high quality electrophotographic images. The fixing member includes a substrate, an elastic layer on the substrate and a surface layer bonded to the elastic layer with an adhesive layer. The surface layer contains a fluorine resin. The surface layer having a thermal resistance in the thickness direction of 3.0&#xd7;10m&#xb7;K/W or more and 1.3&#xd7;10m&#xb7;K/W or less and the peel adhesion strength between the surface layer and the elastic layer is 3.0 N/cm or more and 20.0 N/cm or less, while the elastic layer undergoes a cohesive failure in a peel test between the surface layer and the elastic layer and the fluorine resin contains a tetrafluoroethylene/perfluoroethyl vinyl ether copolymer, the polymerization ratio of perfluoroethyl vinyl ether in the copolymer being 3.0 mol % or more and 5.8 mol % or less.
