A display device according to an aspect of the present invention includes: a display body including a curved part; a case including a bottom plate part through which a through hole is provided at a position opposed to the curved part; and a printed circuit board that is fixed to a surface of the bottom plate opposite to the display body side with the electronic component is mounted on a surface opposed to the bottom plate and with the electronic component arranged inside the through hole.

When a message to be transmitted is edited first and then the call number of a recipient is selected, before the transmission of a tone signal the call number is moved to the head of the transmission data, and a pause signal is inserted between the call signal and the message to temporarily halt the transmission of the tone signal, so that the call number of the recipient can be positioned at the head of the transmission data without a complicated operation being required.

A pager includes a power supply that supplies a plurality of power sources of various voltages, a switch that selects a power source supplied by the power supply and supplies the power source to a frequency converter, and a controller that shifts the selection of the switch into another power source of higher voltage when extraction of an ID from a signal demodulated by a demodulator is impossible. The controller instructs the switch to select a power source of the lowest voltage in the initial state and after a predetermined time from the switching into the higher voltage power source. Signal distortion in the frequency converter, a factor causing intermodulation, is prevented by switching the power source voltage of the frequency converter. Deterioration of the possibility of reception due to intermodulation in the frequency converter is thereby prevented. The switch is returned to its initial state after a predetermined time and power consumption of the pager is reduced. The possibility of reception is improved even more if an attenuator is provided in front of an amplifier.

When mixed modulation signal may be erroneously determined to be a signal intended to be received by a particular receiver the receiver checks whether prevailing received signal is a signal intended to be received by that receiver. When the received signal intended is other than a signal to be received, by that receiver the receiver turns off an antenna tuner to prevent impedance matching between the antenna side impedance and the radio section side impedance. When the received signal intended is a signal to be received, by that receiver the receiver turns on the antenna tuner to allow impedance matching between the two impedances.

In a radio selection call receiver, a high frequency amplifier amplifies a received signal from an antenna to produce an amplified signal. A filter eliminates an undesired wave form the amplified signal to produce a filtered signal. A frequency converter converts a frequency of the filtered signal to produce a converted signal. A demodulator demodulates the converted signal to produce a demodulated baseband signal. A control circuit compares a call number signal from the demodulated baseband signal with the predetermined call number signal to produce a coincidence signal when the call number signal coincides with the predetermined call number signal. The frequency converter comprises a power supply voltage switching circuit for switching one of power supply voltages to another of the power supply voltages when the power supply voltage switching circuit is supplied with a control signal and a bias switching circuit for switching one of direct current voltages to another of the direct current voltages when the bias switching circuit is supplied with the control signal. The control circuit generates the control signal when the call number signal does not coincide with the predetermined call number signal.

Radio selection call receiver capable of increasing receiving ratio

A pager includes a radio frequency (RF) attenuator which is initially rendered inoperative and which initiates attenuation of an incoming RF signal in response to a control signal. An amplifier is coupled to amplify the output of the attenuator. A signal level monitor (24, 26), coupled to the amplifier, determines if the output of the amplifier exceeds a predetermined level. A demodulator (16) is coupled to reproduce a base band signal from the output of the amplifier. A controller, following the demodulator, attempts to establish bit sync during each of a plurality of conventional and intermittently executed preamble searches. If bit sync is not established in a given preamble search and if the level monitor indicates that the output of the amplifier exceeds the predetermined level, the controller applies the control signal to the attenuator for activating the attenuator. Further, the controller extends the given preamble search by a predetermined time period for further determining whether or not bit sync is established. The attenuator, once being energized, continues to attenuate incoming RF signals until a predetermined time period elapses and another high input signal is received without establishing bit sync.

An open/close state of the housings is detected by an open/close detector mounted on the first housing or the second housing. It may be detected by a user operating a predetermined key. According to the detected open/close state, a displaying area of the information is changed between the partial display area and the full display area. At the open state, the information is displayed in the full display area. At the closed state, the information is displayed in the partial display area.
