Reverse rotation preventing mechanism for diesel engine

A diesel engineof the present invention comprises: a camshaftwith a cam; a fuel injection pumphaving a plunger; a tappet for driving the plunger; and a slide portion. The tappet includes a rollerand a roller tappet. The rollerserves as a rotor which abuts against the camso as to drive the fuel injection pump, and a roller tappetserves as a support portion for supporting the rotor. The slide portionslidably fits to the support portion. The roller tappethas a tappet guide serving as a projection for restriction of rotation, and the slide portionhas a guide grooveinto which the projection is fitted. Therefore, the rotor and the cam abutting against the rotor can be prevented from abrasion so as to maintain high accuracy in controlling slide stroke of the plunger.
