A working tool in which a tip tool with a longitudinal shaft is linearly moved, wherein a motor and other tool constituting members are effectively cooled. In order to cool the inside of a motor-driven hammer comprising a main body, a motor, and a motion converter, the hammer is provided with a first cooling air passage through which a cooling air is supplied to the motor, and a second cooling air passage through which a cooling air is supplied to a hammer portion. To generate a cooling air to be supplied to the first and second cooling air passages, a cooling fan is provided at a lower portion of an output shaft of the motor and a hammer portion cooling fan is provided between the output shaft of the motor and the motion converter.

A male terminal is formed on a dust collecting device so as to protrude therefrom, while a plug-in port into which the male terminal can be inserted, and a female terminal that is located inside the plug-in port and can be electrically connected to the male terminal, are provided in a hammer drill. When the dust collecting device is joined to the hammer drill and the male terminal is electrically connected to the female terminal, a driving source is supplied from a battery pack to the dust collecting device.

In a power tool, a housing is composed of two divisional housings to be combined together; two receptacle blocks are provided on inner surfaces of the two divisional housings, respectively, and configured to protrude opposite to each other from the inner surfaces of the two divisional housings to surround an electric component and to hold the electric component in place when the two divisional housings are combined together into the housing; and a seal layer of an elastic material is formed integrally with one or each of the two receptacle blocks. A carrier for carrying a power tool may include a tool bit holder supporting at least one tool bit and a tool bit restraint device that is capable of preventing the at least one tool bit from being dropped out of the tool bit holder. The tool bit restraint device includes a tool bit restraint member. The tool bit restraint member is arranged and constructed so as to substantially uniformly press the at least one tool bit, thereby restraining the at least one tool bit.

A hammer drill () includes a lock plate () forward of a boss sleeve () and a swash bearing () which cooperates with the boss sleeve to convert the rotation of an intermediate shaft () on which the boss sleeve is mounted. The lock plate is mounted on the boss sleeve and selectively engages claws () of the boss sleeve () in a manner that permits its integral rotation with and axial slide with respect to the boss sleeve. The lock plate is additionally biased in the forward direction by a coil spring () so that when a clutch () is shifted forward in a drill mode, the lock plate also moves forward into engagement with a stopper () secured to an inner housing (), preventing inadvertent rotation of the boss sleeve.
