An outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical cell is coated with a heat insulation material. A heat-resistant material is stacked radially outside the heat insulation material. An electrical insulation material is stacked radially outside the heat-resistant material. The order in which the heat insulation material, the heat-resistant material and the electrical insulation material are stacked one on top of another may be changed. A coating material other than the heat insulation material, the heat-resistant material and the electrical insulation material may be provided.

Coated cell and module battery

A sodium-sulfur battery according to the present invention is provided with a reservoir spacethat retains and solidifies a high-temperature molten material having flowed out of a cell, in order to prevent the high-temperature molten material from leaking out of a casing, even when an accident occurs to generate the high-temperature molten material inside the casing. The drying method performs drying the honeycomb formed article by such an arrangement that superheated steam or mixed gas of steam and hot air, temperature and humidity of which is regulated so that wet-bulb temperature thereof becomes 70&#xb0; C. or higher, is made to pass through the cells of the honeycomb formed article. The drying apparatus includes a steam supply unit that supplies the superheated steam, a buffer chamber that aligns the superheated steam supplied from the steam supply unit, an upper chamber disposed above the buffer chamber to locate the honeycomb formed article, and a hood unit that recovers the superheated steam which has passed through the honeycomb formed article.

A method of drying a honeycomb formed article, in which the honeycomb formed article can be dried in a short time while prohibiting occurrence of defects such as deformation, breakage and the like. There is provided a drying method of an unfired honeycomb formed article including raw material composition containing ceramics raw material, water, and binder, and having a plurality of cells, the cells being separated by partition walls to be passage of fluid, and electromagnetic wave drying is performed to dry the honeycomb formed article after the honeycomb formed article is preheated by steam.

Method of drying honeycomb formed article

There is provided a method for drying a honeycomb formed article. The method has the first step, where an unfired honeycomb formed articlehaving a plurality of cells separated by partition walls made from raw material composition containing a ceramic raw material, water, and a binder is heated and dried by microwave drying or dielectric drying, and a second step, where the honeycomb formed articleis dried by hot air drying, where hot air whose humidity was adjusted to have a wet-bulb temperature of 50 to 100&#xb0; C. using a hot air drying apparatusafter the first step is passed through the cells. The method can dry a honeycomb formed article in a shorter period of time with inhibiting generation of a defect such as a deformation or breakage.
