An apparatus includes a rotatable image heater for heating a recording material, a coil, outside the heater, for generating magnetic flux for heating the heater and having an end outside an end of the heater with respect to the rotational axis direction, a pressor contacting the heater outer surface for forming a nip nipping and conveying the recording material, a metal member for pressing the pressor through the heater and having an end which is located outside the end of the heater and outside an end of the coil with respect to the rotational axis direction, and a magnetic flux confiner disposed inside the heater between the coil and the metal member, for confining the magnetic flux from the coil so as not to extend toward the metal member and having an end located outside the end of the heater with respect to the rotational axis direction.

Image heating apparatus having magnetic flux confining means

A fixing apparatus which fixes a toner image at a nip portion formed by a belt member and a rotating member controls a deviation of a belt by changing an inclination of a belt supporting member during a fixing operation. During a standby operation in which the belt member and the rotating member are separated from each other, the fixing apparatus stops changing the inclination of the belt supporting member and regulates the deviation of the belt by contacting a flange provided at the belt supporting member and a belt end portion.

An image heating apparatus includes an endless belt for heating an image on a recording material in a nip and a pressing pad for pressing the belt from an inner surface thereof in the nip. A sheet-like member is provided to cover the pressing pad, providing for sliding movement relative to the belt. A lubricant absorbing member for suppressing swelling of the pressing pad by absorbing a lubricant applied on an inner surface of the belt, with the lubricant absorbing member covered by the sheet-like member.
