A display medium includes a pair of substrates, an electrophoretic medium, and a partitioning medium. The pair of substrates is disposed in spaced-apart relation and substantially parallel to each other. The electrophoretic medium is disposed between the pair of substrates and contains charged particles. An electric field generated between the pair of substrates causes the charged particles contained in the electrophoretic medium to migrate for switching a display state. The partitioning medium has fluidity and is phase-separated from the electrophoretic medium at least at room temperature. The partitioning medium is in a phase-separated state phase-separated from the electrophoretic medium. The partitioning medium is disposed between the pair of substrates as a partition to partition the electrophoretic medium.

An electrophoretic display device uses a liquid-phase electrophoretic material not confined in a shell. An electrophoresis chamber with the electrophoretic material hermetically sealing therein is mounted in a substrate. Also, a display section, a data communication section, a driver section, and a power reception section are mounted on the substrate. The data communication section is communicable with an external device to receive data to be displayed in the display section. The driver section is provided for driving the display section. To supply power to various sections of the display device, the power reception section is provided for wirelessly being supplied with power from an external station. A panel is mated with the substrate to cover the data communication section, the driver section, and the power reception section while exposing a transparent cover plate of the display section.

A pressing portion of the holder containing indents compresses the seal member to thereby reduce the respective sizes of the segment holes of the seal member so as deform the segment holes to shrink in conformity with the outer shape of the inserted wires.

A hot melt ink which is applicable to an ink jet printing system where the hot melt ink is jetted out to a printing medium to form an image on the printing medium includes a binder which contains a hot melt composition; a coloring material which is dispersed in the binder; and a photo-curing composition. The binder as a dispersion medium is dispersed in the photo-curing composition in the form of grains and a surface of the hot melt ink is covered with the photo-curing composition when the hot melt ink is fixed on the printing medium. An ink jet printing apparatus includes a jetting device which jets the above hot melt ink melted by heat out to a printing medium to draw an image on the printing medium; and a light source for irradiating the hot melt ink on the printing medium which is jetted out from the jetting device to cure the photo-curing composition.

A photosensitive recording medium has a structure wherein, on a light-transmitting base material, a photosensitive layer containing color image-forming photosensitive microcapsules having as materials encapsulated therein a colorant and a photosensitive material is formed and, on the photosensitive layer, an image-receiving layer is formed. The image-receiving layer has a function to cover up the photosensitive microcapsules in the fresh photosensitive recording method and, upon release of the encapsulated materials from the photosensitive microcapsules, a function to absorb the encapsulated material to form an image. The photosensitive recording medium enables formation of full-color images on the photosensitive recording medium itself, and can achieve a low running cost and also be used even in small-sized image-forming apparatus.

The diameters of the charged particles 2 are about 1/1000 to about 1/5 of the particle diameters of the microcapsules 10, and the charged particles 2 are dispersed such that the dispersion degree of the particle diamter distribution, expressed as volume-average particle diameter/number-average particle diameter, ranges from 1 to about 2, where the volume-average particle diameter indicates an average particle diameter derived from a volume-based particle diameter distribution and the number-average particle diameter indicates an average particle diameter derived from a number-based particle diameter distribution.
