According to one embodiment, an active material is provided. The active material includes a primary particle including an NbTiOphase and at least one Nb-rich phase selected from an NbTiOphase and an NbTiOphase. In the primary particle, a ratio M/Mof substance amount of niobium to titanium satisfies 5.0<M/M≤24.0. A diffraction chart according to a wide angle X-ray diffraction method using a CuKα ray for the active material includes a peak A and a peak C attributed to the NbTiOphase and a peak B appearing within a range of 2θ of 25.5±0.2° attributed to the Nb-rich phase. The active material satisfies a peak intensity ratio represented by 0<I/I<5.0. A half width of the peak C is in a range of 0.15° or more and 0.80° or less.

An electrode material may include an active material particle containing: a niobium-titanium composite oxide having an average composition in which a molar ratio of niobium to titanium (M/M) is greater than 2; and at least one element A selected from the group consisting of potassium, iron and phosphorus. The curving amount is represented by a maximum distance from the first edge to a reference line connecting two points on the first edge. According to one embodiment, a method of producing a secondary battery is provided. The method includes preparing a battery architecture including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte; adjusting a positive electrode potential to a range of 3.4 V to 3.9 V and a negative electrode potential to a range of 1.5 V to 2.0 V based on an oxidation-reduction potential of lithium, thereby providing a potential adjusted state; and holding the battery architecture in the potential adjusted state at a holding temperature of 50° C. to 90° C. The positive electrode includes a lithium-nickel-cobalt-manganese composite oxide. The negative electrode includes a niobium-titanium composite oxide. The electrolyte includes one or more first organic solvent having a viscosity of 1 cP or less.

According to an embodiment, an electrode group is provided. The electrode group includes a positive electrode, and a negative electrode. The negative electrode active material-containing layer includes a facing section which faces the positive electrode active material-containing layer and a non-facing section which does not. A first fluorine-containing coating is formed on a main surface of the negative electrode active material-containing layer in at least a part of the non-facing section. The abundance ratio of fluorine atoms included in the first fluorine-containing coating is in the range of 2.5 atom % to 10 atom %.

The electrode group includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a gel polymer layer interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The gel polymer layer is formed of a gel electrolyte composed of a polymer material, an organic solvent and a lithium salt, and a sheet base member which supports the gel electrolyte, or the gel polymer layer is formed of only the gel electrolyte.

According to one embodiment, an electrode material is provided. The electrode material includes active material particle containing: a niobium-titanium composite oxide having an average composition in which a molar ratio of niobium to titanium (M/M) is greater than 2; and at least one element A selected from the group consisting of potassium, iron and phosphorus. The active material particle contain the element A at a concentration in the range of 100 ppm to 2000 ppm.

According to one embodiment, provided is an electrode including a current collector and an active material-containing layer in contact with the current collector. The active material-containing layer contains a carbon nanotube and particles of titanium-containing oxide having an average particle size or 0.1 μm to 3 μm. A peel strength between the current collector and the active material-containing layer is within a range of 0.2 kN/m to 0.7 kN/m.
