Provided is a press machine for driving a slide by a motor, including a control device for controlling driving of the motor, in which the press machine has a press capacity which can be variably controlled by using field control for the motor.

Press machine and method of controlling the same

A motor drive control device includes a power-running operation start voltage setting section that sets a power-running operation start voltage of the power supply converter, a power-running operation start control section that causes the power supply converter to start a power-running operation when the direct-current voltage of the power supply converter has reached the power-running operation start voltage set by the power-running operation start voltage setting section, a power-running operation stop voltage setting section that sets a power-running operation stop voltage of the power supply converter, and a power-running operation stop control section that causes the power supply converter to stop the power-running operation when the direct-current voltage of the power supply converter has reached the power-running operation stop voltage set by the power-running operation stop voltage setting section.

Motor drive control device

A press machine uses a crank mechanism which can perform pressing by a pressing force control when a slide exists in a pressing region. When the slide is determined to exist between an initial position and a switching position to the pressing region, the slide is moved down by rotating a motor regularly by a position control system. When the slide is determined to exist in the pressing region, pressing is performed by moving down the slide such that a slide pressing force becomes equal to a set slide pressing force by a pressing force control system.

Press machine

Two sets of linear motors are fixed on opposed sides of a molding head driving device. Each linear motor includes a movable slider facing a casing. The linear motor contains a molding head and a magnetic plate facing a molding head. The use of two linear motors cancels out the magnetic attraction between the facing linear motors. A linear roller guide is disposed vertically in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic attraction between the linear motors so that the magnetic attraction from the linear motors does not act on the linear roller guide. In another embodiment, three sets of molding head driving devices are disposed between left and right frames integrally formed projecting from a base to form a molding device. In a further embodiment a pair of double linear motors drives four molding head driving devices. The double linear motors are affixed together by, for example, bolts.
