The invention relates to a cylindrical AAA alkaline dry battery including: a positive terminal protruding from one end face of the alkaline dry battery; a negative terminal protruding from the other end face; and an external label covering the alkaline dry battery. The diameter Dp (mm) and protruding height Hp (mm) of the positive terminal and the diameter Dn (mm) and protruding height Hn (mm) of the negative terminal satisfy the relation (1): 2.5&#x2266;Dn&#x2212;Dp&#x2266;4.1 (1), and the relation (2): 0.8&#x2266;Hp&#x2212;Hn&#x2266;1.1 (2). This permits easy and reliable identification of the polarities of the terminals, making it possible to provide a cylindrical AAA alkaline dry battery which is unlikely to be installed reversely.

Cylindrical AAA alkaline dry battery

An alkaline primary battery includes: a positive electrodecontaining manganese dioxide; an alkaline electrolyte containing zinc oxide; a gelled negative electrodecontaining zinc alloy particles, the alkaline electrolyte, and a gelling agent; and a negative electrode current collectorinserted in the gelled negative electrode. The gelled negative electrodehas a predetermined malleability such that when 4.0 g of the gelled negative electrodeformed into a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 15 mm is extended with 200 g of a load through 10 g of a flat plate, and then an upper surface of the extended gelled negative electrodeis approximated to a circle, this circle has a diameter ranging from 24 mm to 36 mm, both inclusive.

Alkaline primary battery

Provided is a cylindrical alkaline battery in which the packing density Dc of the manganese dioxide in the positive electrode is 2.8 to 3.0 g/cmand the packing density Da of zinc or a zinc alloy in the negative electrode is 2.0 to 2.3 g/cm. Cylindrical alkaline battery having specific electrode packing densities and electrode thickness

An alkaline battery including a positive electrode of a hollow cylindrical shape disposed in contact with an inner surface of a bottomed cylindrical battery case, a gelled negative electrode, a separator, and an alkaline electrolyte. The separator includes a cylindrical separator disposed in contact with the inner side surface of the positive electrode, and a bottom separator covering an opening of the cylindrical separator in the bottom side of the battery case. The bottom of the battery case includes: an annular base portion for supporting the positive electrode; an annular intermediate portion provided inwardly of the base portion, for supporting the bottom separator; and a terminal portion protruding outwardly from the intermediate portion. The intermediate portion has an inclined surface on the inner bottom surface of the battery case, the inclined surface being inclined downwardly from the base portion toward the terminal portion.

Alkaline battery

A method for producing an alkaline primary battery includes: (1) forming a cylindrical positive electrode having a hollow; (2) inserting a cylindrical separator with a bottom into the hollow of the positive electrode, the separator including: a wound cylindrical portion; and a bottom portion that is substantially U-shaped in cross-section, the bottom portion covering an opening of the cylindrical portion at a lower end thereof and having an upstanding portion that extends along a lower outer face of the cylindrical portion; and (3) injecting an electrolyte into the separator. The amount of the electrolyte injected into the separator in the step (3) is sufficient to impregnate the positive electrode and the separator and immerse a lower end of the cylindrical portion of the separator in the electrolyte remaining in the separator, thereby bringing the lower end of the cylindrical portion into contact with the upstanding portion.

Method for producing alkaline primary battery

A positive electrodeand a negative electrodeare contained in a battery casewith a separatorinterposed therebetween. The positive electrodecontains manganese dioxide and an alkaline electrolyte, and the negative electrodeis a gelled negative electrode containing zinc powder, a gelling agent, and an alkaline electrolyte. The zinc powder contains 15% by mass or higher of fine powder with a particle size smaller than 200 mesh, and 10 to 35% by mass of coarse powder with a particle size of 20 to 80 mesh, and has a specific surface area in the range of 0.025 to 0.080 m/g.

Alkaline battery having improved high rate discharge capability

A battery outer labelincluding a heat-shrinkable resin film such as of polyethylene terephthalate as a base material, a printing layerand a protective layerformed on a front surface of the base material, and a vapor-deposited metal layerand an adhesive layerformed on a back surface of the base material, wherein the battery outer labelhas a water vapor permeability in the range of 14 to 30 g/m&#xb7;24 h.

Battery outer label and battery provided with the same

A positive electrode and a gelled negative electrode are stored with a separator interposed therebetween in a battery case and an opening portion of the battery case is sealed with a gasket. The battery case is formed so that a thickness of a body portion thereof is smaller than a thickness of an opening portion thereof, the gasket includes a center portion, an outer circumference portion and a connection portion, an edge portion of the separator is in contact with the connection portion and bent toward the center portion and contact part of the edge portion with the connection portion has a length in a range of 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm, and the positive electrode contains at least manganese dioxide and graphite and a mixture ratio by weight of manganese dioxide and graphite is within a range of 92.6/7.4 to 94.0/6.0.

Alkaline battery and battery pack

A positive electrode and a gelled negative electrode are stored with a separator interposed therebetween in a battery case and an opening portion of the battery case is sealed with a gasket. The battery case is formed so that a thickness of a body portion thereof is smaller than a thickness of an opening portion thereof, the gasket includes a center portion, an outer circumference portion and a connection portion, an edge portion of the separator is in contact with the connection portion and bent toward the center portion and contact part of the edge portion with the connection portion has a length in a range of 1.5 mm to 2.5 mm. Furthermore, part of the separator which is not in contact with the positive electrode and the connection portion has a length of 1.5 mm or less.

A leak-proof alkaline dry battery including a battery case and a seal unit for closing the opening of the battery case. The seal unit includes: a negative electrode terminal plate; a negative electrode current collector nail electrically connected to the terminal plate; and a resin seal member. The resin seal member includes: a central cylindrical part having an opening through which the body of the negative electrode current collector nail is inserted; an outer peripheral cylindrical part interposed between a peripheral edge of the negative electrode terminal plate and an open edge of the battery case; a connecting part interconnecting the central and outer peripheral cylindrical parts; and a thinned section formed in the connecting part. The body of the negative electrode current collector nail is fitted to the opening of the central cylindrical part in a particular fit relation to prevent leakage for a long time.

Alkaline dry battery

Lithium composite metal oxides prepared by mixing at least one type of hydroxides, oxides, and carbonates of a metal selected from the group of transition metal, IIA metal, and IIIA metal, and a lithium compound of which the D50 value is in the range 5 to 50 &mgr;m, the D90 value is 90 &mgr;m or smaller, and in which particles 100 &mgr;m or greater do not exist, and calcining in the temperature range 700 to 1000&deg; C. for 2 to 30 hours, and grinding, are used as the active material of a positive electrode which is laminated with a negative electrode with a separator interposed and spirally wound thereby forming an electrode group. By using the positive active materials prepared in this manner, discharge capacity and cycle characteristic of a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell can be improved.
