An alkaline dry battery having high reliability is provided by using a separator that has excellent drop impact resistance when impregnated with an alkaline electrolyte. In the alkaline dry battery according to the present invention, an electrolyte solution is an alkaline aqueous solution containing 30 to 40% by weight of potassium hydroxide, and a separator impregnated with the alkaline aqueous solution has a burst index within a range of 2 to 10 kPa/(g/m).

Alkaline dry battery and method for evaluating separator for use in alkaline dry battery

An alkaline battery according to the present invention includes: a power generation element including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator placed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an electrolyte; a positive terminal portion electrically connected to the positive electrode; and a negative terminal portion electrically connected to the negative electrode. The negative electrode contains zinc powder or zinc alloy powder containing 15% by weight or more of particles having a particle size of 75 &#x3bc;m or less as a negative active material. A PTC element is provided in a current path that does not come into contact with the electrolyte at least one of between the positive electrode and the positive terminal portion and between the negative electrode and the negative terminal portion.

Alkaline battery

An alkaline battery according to the present invention includes: a battery case that houses a power generation element therein; and an assembly sealing portion that closes an opening of the battery case. The assembly sealing portion includes a negative terminal portion, a negative current collector electrically connected to the negative terminal portion, and a resin sealing body. The negative terminal portion includes a first negative terminal plate and a second negative terminal plate spaced apart from each other, and a PTC element placed between the first negative terminal plate and the second negative terminal plate.

The present invention provides an alkaline dry battery which has excellent heavy load and intermediate load discharge characteristics, and in which reduction in light load discharge characteristic is suppressed. Cylindrical battery and method and device for manufacturing thereof

The present invention provides a high-capacity cylindrical battery, wherein a burst-proof mechanism, which functions to discharge a gas outside when the internal pressure of the battery abnormally increases, does not sacrifice the space for power generating elements but increases the total capacity for power generating elements. The cylindrical battery of the present invention has a circular groove formed in the vicinity of an opening of a battery case, in which power generating elements are accommodated, the circular groove having a bottom that is bent inward the battery case and has at least one gas discharge aperture, which is sealed with a seal element. The seal element is an elastic ring to be set in the groove and seal the gas discharge aperture. This arrangement enables the gas discharge aperture to be sealed again even after the burst-proof mechanism functions, thereby ensuring a continuous use of the battery.

A battery includes a pair of an anode electric power generating source element and a cathode electric power generating source element for generating an electric power, and a container receiving therein the electric power generating source elements. The container includes a breakable portion which is breakable such that a gas from at least a part of the electric power generating source elements is allowed to flow out of the container therethrough when a pressure in the container increases excessively. The battery further includes a variable throttle for the gas which is elastically deformable by the pressure in the container such that the gas is allowed to flow out of the container.

A heat sensitive jacket label for a battery is disclosed. It comprises a base made of a heat-shrinking film, a metal layer provided on a back surface of the base, a heat-resistant insulating layer provided on the metal layer, and a heat sensitive adhesive on the insulating layer. Each bonded electrode of the layered-type manganese dry battery has a conductive carbon coat the surface of which contacts the adjacent positive electrode composition and is provided with protrusions of 0.05 to 0.15 mm in height, which serves to prevent the electrodes from sticking to each other even when the electrodes are punched into a prescribed shape by a press mounted with a chute and transported by pressure with the top and bottom of the electrodes facing the respectively specified sides. The protrusions formed on the surface of the coat stick into the positive electrode composition, which serves to reduce the contact resistance with the positive electrode composition, facilitating the easy maintenance of the low contact resistance. Furthermore, since the contact area with the positive electrode composition facing the coat is increased, the current collecting performance is also improved.
