A packaging material for electrochemical cells, which has insulating properties sufficient for preventing a short circuit, while exhibiting excellent electrolyte solution resistance and water vapor barrier properties. A packaging material for electrochemical cells is obtained by sequentially laminating a metal layer, an adhesive resin layer and a thermally adhesive resin layer in this order, wherein: a base coating layer is provided between the metal layer and the adhesive resin layer; and the base coating layer contains at least a zirconium oxide (A) having an average particle diameter within the range of from 1 nm to 500 nm (inclusive), one or more phosphorus-containing compounds (B) selected from the group of phosphorus compounds having 4 or more phosphonic groups in each molecule, and an acid-modified polyolefin resin (C).

Chromium-and-fluorine-free chemical conversion treatment solution for metal surfaces, metal surface treatment method, and metal surface coating method

A chemical conversion treatment solution for a steel material is provided. The solution is an acidic aqueous solution of pH 3 to 5 containing 50 to 500 ppm by weight of zirconium fluoride complex in terms of Zr, 5 to 50 ppm by weight of free fluorine, and 5 to 30% by weight in relation to Zr of polyethyleneimine having a weight average molecular weight of 300 to 10,000, a molar ratio of the primary amino group of at least 30%, and a molar ratio of the tertiary amino group of at least 15% in relation to the total amino group content. A method for chemical conversion treatment is also provided. This invention realizes excellent coating adhesion and corrosion resistance after the coating, as well as improved throwing power in the coating, and in particular, in the electrodeposition coating of a steel material.

Chemical conversion treatment solution for a steel material and chemical conversion treatment method

A metallic material is provided that is superior to an iron-based metallic material in all of adhesion, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance, and a method of manufacturing the metallic material is also provided. A metallic material is provided that includes an iron-based metallic material and an oxide layer formed on the surface of the iron-based metallic material. The oxide layer includes Fe and at least one kind of metal (A) selected from a group consisting of Zr, Ti, and Hf. There is also provided a method of manufacturing the metallic material.

Metallic material and method of manufacturing the same

A metal surface on which a phosphate conversion coating is to be formed and which has been surface conditioned by contact with a liquid surface conditioner composition that contains dispersed fine particles of solid phosphate of at least one divalent or trivalent cations type and an adhesion promoting agent. After such conditioning, a very high quality conversion coating can be formed on the surface by contact with a nickel-free liquid phosphating composition that contains at least acid, zinc cations, and phosphate anions and optionally and preferably also contains other materials.

Process for forming a phosphate conversion coating on metal

A highly effective and storage stable conditioning treatment for metal surfaces prior to phosphating them is a suspension in water containing solid miorosize particles of at least one phosphate of a divalent or trivalent metal and an accelerant selected from the group consisting of sacoharides and their derivatives thereof, orthophosphoric acid, condensed phosphoric acids, organophosphonic acids, and polymers of vinyl acetate and/or carboxylic acid. The surface conditioning liquid composition is used simply by effecting contact between the metal and the liquid composition, and can also be used to simultaneously carry out degreasing, particularly when the conditioning liquid also contains nonionic or anionic surfactant.

Conditioning metal surfaces before phosphating them

A zinc phosphate-type conversion film having microfine-sized crystals is formed on metal surfaces using a conversion treatment bath that contains zinc ions and phosphate ions along with 50 to 1500 ppm of an organoperoxide conversion accelerator, and optionally surfactant. Surface-conditioning treatments can be omitted from this method. The presence of the surfactant makes possible simultaneous execution of surface cleaning and conversion treatment

Composition and process for zinc phosphate conversion coating

A pretreatment before phosphating conversion coating is effected by contacting a metal substrate to be coated with a pretreatment composition that has a pH from 4 to 13 and contains dispersed fine particle size alkali metal or ammonium salts and divalent or trivalent metal phosphates. The conditioning achieved is as good as with conventional Jernstedt salts and the pretreatment compositions according to the invention are more storage stable.
