An image reading apparatus includes a placement board, a camera that captures an image of a subject placed on the placement board, a first holding member to which the camera is fixed, a second holding member that is fixed to the placement board, and a fixing portion that fixes the first holding member to the second holding member, wherein a sliding surface along a spherical surface is formed on one of the first holding member and the second holding member, three contact points disposed at three different positions respectively are formed on the other one of the first holding member and the second holding member, the first holding member is rotatably supported about three axes by the second holding member as a result of the three contact points coming into contact with the sliding surface, and the camera is disposed inside the spherical surface.

A scanning device includes a first scanning unit having a first line sensor and a first light source that emits a first light beam and is arranged only at one side of the first scanning unit in a main scanning direction, and a second scanning unit having a second line sensor and a second light source that emits a second light beam and is arranged only at one side of the second scanning unit in the main scanning direction. The first scanning unit and the second scanning unit face each other and are disposed such that the first light source and the second light source are arranged at the same side of the main scanning direction, and centers of the first line sensor and the second line sensor are located at the same position in the main scanning direction.

Scanning device, apparatus and method for image processing

A scanning device includes a first scanning unit having a first scanning element array to scan a first surface of a scan-target medium to acquire a first image, a second scanning unit having a second scanning element array to scan a second surface of the scan-target medium to acquire a second image, and an output unit that outputs a first image signal of the first image and a second image signal of the second image. The first scanning unit and the second scanning unit face each other to scan the first surface and the second surface concurrently. When the scanning directions of the first scanning element array and the second scanning element array are the same, a mirrored image acquired from one of the first image signal and the second image signal is inverted so that the output unit outputs normal images of the first surface and the second surface.

A scanning device includes a first scanning unit, a second scanning unit, and a light source corresponding to each of the first scanning unit and the second scanning unit. An image reading apparatus includes pairs of rollers, each including a driving roller and a driven roller. The pairs of rollers are arranged along the rotation axis direction of the driving roller and constitute a first roller group and a second roller group for conveying a first medium and a second medium thicker than the first medium, respectively. An image reading apparatus includes a feeding unit, a conveying unit, a primary stacking unit, a secondary stacking unit, and a path switching unit. The path switching unit switches between a first conveying path including a bend section for normal conveying mode and a second conveying path for reverse conveying mode. In the normal conveying mode, the conveying unit conveys a sheet fed from the feeding unit to the primary stacking unit through the first conveying path. In the reverse conveying mode, the conveying unit conveys a sheet fed from the primary stacking unit to the secondary stacking unit through the second conveying path bypassing the bend section.

A MICR reading head is operable to read a MICR character printed on a medium fed in a first direction. A sensor is operable to detect an end portion in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction of the medium. The MICR reading head is movable to a predetermined position at a predetermined distance from the end portion detected by the sensor.

An apparatus has a printer unit, a scanner unit, a front cover that opens upward in the direction of the back surface and forms a transport path of scanner paper discharged by the scanner unit, and mounting members provided on the front cover for detachably mounting the scanner unit in such an attitude that the main scanning direction becomes horizontal. Furthermore, as the need arises, the apparatus may have a scanner paper tray member rotatably connected to the front cover at a location higher than the mounting members for feeding scanner paper to the scanner unit.
