There is provided a fuel injection valve in which nozzle holes are formed on a metering plate and fuel flowing on a face of the metering plate on the upstream side is injected outside of a face of the metering plate on the downstream side through the nozzle holes. The fuel injection valve includes a vortex flow generator means for changing a flow of fuel passing in each nozzle hole into a vortex flow, wherein the vortex flow generator means is provided on the upstream side of the metering plate. The vortex flow means is a vortex flow generator groove provided on an upper face of the metering plate and connected with a wall face of an entrance of the nozzle hole, and a main stream of fuel flowing in the groove is directed to a position shifted from the center of the nozzle hole. Alternatively, the vortex flow means is a protrusion formed on an upper face of the metering plate. A flow of fuel is changed into a vortex flow in the nozzle hole and injected from the nozzle hole. Therefore, fuel can be excellently atomized and diffused as a megaphone-shape without being formed into a liquid column spray.

Fuel injection valve

A nozzle holder includes a support portion, which supports a downstream end surface of a planar wall of an injection hole plate. The injection hole plate provided with injection holes is welded to one of the valve body and the nozzle holder. The planar wall may be curved and may be thus convex in an upstream direction toward a downstream end opening such that the planar wall is urged against a peripheral edge of the downstream end opening of the valve body. The planar wall may include a reinforcing rib located radially outward of the injection hole.

Fuel injection device having injection hole plate

In an injection hole plate of a fuel injection device, injection holes are arranged about a circle. Fuel injected from the injection holes forms a flat sector-shaped spray. The intervals between adjacent injection holes are approximately equal to each other, while the diameters of the injection holes are equal to each other. An injection hole is positioned on an imaginary plane, which contains the central axis of the sector-shaped spray along the injection direction and is orthogonal or approximately orthogonal to the sector-shaped spray. The injection holes, away from the imaginary plane in this order, are symmetric with respect to the line of intersection of the injection hole plate and the imaginary plane. The farther each injection hole is away from the imaginary plane, the larger an angle of gradient of the injection hole with respect to the imaginary plane becomes.

Fuel injection device

A fuel supply and injection system includes a fuel tank, a single electric pump unit, a plurality of fuel injection valves and a piping arrangement. The pump unit is provided in the fuel tank and includes an inlet for taking the fuel in the fuel tank and an outlet for discharging the fuel. The injection valves are secured to an engine main body. Each fuel injection valve includes a nozzle, which is disposed in a corresponding one of combustion chambers and injects the fuel supplied from the pump unit directly into the corresponding one of the combustion chambers. The piping arrangement connects between the electric pump unit and each fuel injection valve. The pump unit is the only pump for supplying the fuel to the fuel injection valves.

Fuel supply and injection system and method for controlling the same

Twelve injection holes formed on an injection hole member are separated into two groups, each one of the two groups has six injection holes for forming a spray. Each injection hole is formed such that its injected fuel flow path center diverges from an injection center axis as fuel advances in an injection direction. Respective injected fuel flow path centers diverge from each other as fuel advances in the injection direction. Accordingly, fuel injected from the injection holes do not collide each other and form sprays. Thus, the spray is uniformly atomized, and a deviation of the spray direction is prevented.

Fuel injection nozzle

A fluid injection valve includes a valve seat having a conical concave surface and a valve seat surface, a needle having an edge surface and an annular contact surface whose diameter is Ds, an orifice plate having a perforated surface disposed in a downstream portion at a distance h from the edge surface of the needle and at a distance H from valve seat surface. Thus, a fluid chamber is defined by the perforated surface of the orifice plate, the edge surface of the needle and the conical concave surface of the valve seat. The perforated surface has a plurality of first orifices having a diameter d on a first circle whose diameter is DH. The fluid chamber is formed to have the following relationships among the diameters Ds, DH, d and the distances h, H: 1.5&lt;Ds/DH&lt;6, h&lt;1.5 d, and H&lt;4 d.

Fluid injection valve

A fluid injection valve includes a valve seat having a conical concave surface and a valve seat surface, a needle having an edge surface and an annular contact surface whose diameter is Ds, an orifice plate having a perforated surface disposed in a downstream portion at a distance h from the edge surface of the needle and at a distance H from valve seat surface. Thus, a fluid chamber is defined by the perforated surface of the orifice plate, the edge surface of the needle and the conical concave surface of the valve seat. The perforated surface has a plurality of first orifices having a diameter d on a first circle whose diameter is DH. The fluid chamber is formed to have the following relationships among the diameters Ds, DH, d and the distances h, H: 1.5&lt;Ds/DH&lt;6, h&lt;1.5d, and H&lt;4d.

A fuel injection nozzle is configured and dimensional with a flat flow passage just above the outlet orifice(s). When the abutting portion of a needle valve moves away from the valve seat, fuel flows are directed uniformly toward the orifice from around its periphery so as to collide with each other just above each orifice inlet. Atomized fuel is then injected to the engine from the orifice. The internal energy of the fuel flows can more effectively be utilized in the collisions to more finely atomize the fuel and to maintain the ability to provide a highly direction output injection spray.

Fluid injection nozzle

A fluid injection nozzle having its components easily positioned and assembled. The fluid injection nozzle comprises: a first plate having a first slit-shaped hole for passing a fluid therethrough; and a second plate superposed on the downstream side of the first plate and having a second hole communicating with a portion of the first hole. A characterizing portion is formed in at least one of the first plate and the second plate at a portion other than the first hole or the second hole for discriminating the upstream and downstream sides.

The present invention makes it possible to obtain good characteristics of forming sprays of fuel jetted through a plurality of injection ports of a fuel injection valve with respect to separation of sprays in different directions, atomization, jetting angles and penetrating force. Fuel jetted through the injection ports of the fuel injection valve is jetted in separate jets from a plurality of fuel flow separating holes of a sleeve nozzle. On the other hand, band-like assist air flows are jetted in a two-dimensional manner from slit-like air holes opened on the opposite sides of the fuel flow separating holes to impinge obliquely against the jetted fuel. Atomization of fuel jetted through the plurality of fuel flow separating holes is thereby promoted and fuel sprays are accurately separated and supplied independently in two directions toward two intake valves while the directions of jets from the injection ports of the fuel injection valve are maintained, thus injecting and supplying fuel. As a result, an amount of fuel impinging directly against walls which separates and forms two intake ports is reduced and an amount of atomized sprayed fuel directly entering a combustion chamber from the intake ports is therefore increased, thereby improving combustion characteristics.

Fuel supply system for use with internal combustion engine

A fluid injection nozzle according to the present invention comprises a first plate having a first hole through which fluid is allowed to flow in, a second plate disposed in layers on the downstream side of the first plate and having a second hole partially communicating with said first hole and tapered toward the downstream side, and a space which is formed between an outlet of the first hole and an outlet of the second hole and in which a liquid film is formed by the fluid which collides with an inner wall surface serving to form the second hole.

A fuel feed apparatus having assist air passages that improve the fuel flow to an internal combustion engine. The fuel feed apparatus includes a fuel injection valve having a fuel injection nozzle body, and a resin cover member having both a fuel passage and an air assist passage. The cover member is press fit to the fuel injection body. The fuel feed apparatus further includes a ring member formed of metallic material and attached to an inner surface of the cover member.

Fuel feed apparatus of internal combustion engine

A fuel feed apparatus of an internal combustion engine is provided having a fuel passage serving to guide fuel in a predetermined direction, and an assist air passage serving to collide assist air against the fuel. The apparatus includes an inner member formed therein with the fuel passage extending from one end surface to another end surface thereof. An outer member is provided in surrounding relation to the inner member and forms the assist air passage between the inner member and the outer member. The outer member has at least one penetrating hole penetrating therethrough defining an inlet opening of the assist air passage. The air passage extends from the penetrating hole in a direction along fuel injection and has an outlet opening opened to an outlet side of the fuel passage. The outer member is joined to the inner member at an outer periphery of the one end surface of the inner member.

Fuel feed apparatus of internal combustion engine and manufacturing

A fuel feed apparatus of an internal combustion engine comprises: a passage member which is formed with a fuel passage serving to direct fuel injected from a fuel injection valve toward respective intake valves of the internal combustion engine, assist air passage through which assist air is jetted so as to cross the fuel injected from the fuel passage, and a cylindrical guide portion serving to regulate a spray cone angle of the fuel when the assist air is jetted from the assist air passages; and an interrupter device for interrupting the supply of the assist air to the air assist passages in accordance with the operating condition of the internal combustion engine, so that sprays of fuel directed to the plurality of intake valves individually are formed by the fuel passage when the interrupter device cuts off the assist air, while a single spray of fuel atomized by the assist air the spray cone angle of which is regulated by the guide portion is formed when the interrupter device allows the assist air to be supplied.
