A curtain coating device includes a curtain coating member, a conveyance unit, a separation member, and a base material supporting member. The curtain coating member creates a curtain-like film of coating liquid and makes the curtain-like film flow down. The conveyance unit conveys a base material to which the curtain-like film is to be applied. The separation member includes a receiving portion inclined downward from inside to outside in a width direction of the curtain-like film, and separates an end portion of the curtain-like film having flowed down by receiving the end portion with the receiving portion above the base material. The base material supporting member is disposed inside in the width direction of the curtain-like film than the receiving portion of the separation member, and supports the base material on an upper side flat portion while the base material is being conveyed.

Curtain coating device and curtain coating method

A coating material capable of making a coating surface smoother, improving glossiness and being suitably used especially as a thermosensitive recording material, is provided, along with a method for producing the same. As a means for realizing the foregoing, there is provided a coating material produced by a multilayer simultaneous coating process, including: an outermost coating surface having moisture evaporation pores, wherein the moisture evaporation pores are 1.5 &#x3bc;m or less in average diameter. And there is a method for producing the coating material, including: simultaneously depositing two or more types of coating solutions over a continuously running web, and drying the coating solutions, wherein a coating solution which constitutes a coating other than an outermost coating surface is formed of a dispersion solution, and dispersed particles contained in the dispersion solution are 1 &#x3bc;m or less in average diameter.

Coating material and method for producing the same

To provide an apparatus and method of curtain coating for applying onto a running web a coating solution from a lip top in the form of curtain to form a coating thereon, wherein a fluid is blown to remove excessive deposits of the coating solution that are formed at the edges in the width direction of the coating, and the deposits blown away by the fluid are ejected.

Apparatus and method of curtain coating

To provide a slide curtain coating apparatus and method for depositing a curtain of coating liquid onto a running web, the apparatus and method capable of preventing the curtain from being condensed at its center region and preventing the resulting coating from having greater thickness at its edge regions. The coating apparatus includes: a slit for discharging the coating liquid; a slide on which the curtain flows down; and, a slide edge guide along which the curtain flows and which is provided at both edges on the slide and each having auxiliary liquid supply means at the surface facing the curtain; and auxiliary liquid supply means for discharging the auxiliary liquid from all over the surface thereof which touches the curtain at the edge guide. The coating method includes discharging the auxiliary liquid from all over the surface of the auxiliary supply means coating apparatus.
