Provided is an aluminum alloy element for a slide fastener, which has improved strength and abrasion resistance. The element for the slide fastener includes a base material of an aluminum alloy having a composition represented by a general formula: AlSiCuMgTiBin which a, b, c, d, e and f each represents % by mass; a is a balance; 0.2&#x2264;b&#x2264;0.8, 0.8&#x2264;c&#x2264;1.8, 0.8&#x2264;d&#x2264;1.8, 0&#x3c;e&#x2264;0.05, and 0&#x3c;f&#x2264;0.01; and unavoidable impurity elements may be contained; the aluminum alloy comprising, dispersed therein, precipitates containing at least one element selected from a group consisting of Al, Si, Cu and Mg, the element for the slide fastener comprising a pair of leg portions and a head portion that connects the pair or leg portions and comprises a convex portion and a concave portion for engagement.

Element for slide fastener

Elements for a slide fastener are provided, which have high strength and improved abrasion resistance. More particularly, an element for a slide fastener includes as a base material, an aluminum alloy having a composition represented by a general formula: AlSiCuMgin which a, b, c and d are expressed in percentage by mass, a denotes a balance, 0.4&#x2264;b&#x2264;0.9, 0.15&#x2264;c&#x2264;0.8, 0.8&#x2264;d&#x2264;2.0, and unavoidable impurity elements may be contained; and the aluminum alloy containing a precipitate containing Mg and Si.

A copper alloy for fastening wherein the alloy has a structure of a mixture of &#x3b1;-phase and a &#x3b2;-phase; and wherein the alloy has a composition represented by the general formula: CuZnMn, where bal., a, and b are expressed in % by mass, bal. represents the balance, 34&#x2264;a&#x2264;40.5, 0.1&#x2264;b&#x2264;6, and inevitable impurities may be contained; and the composition satisfying the equation (1): b&#x2265;(&#x2212;8a+300)/7, where 34&#x2264;a&#x3c;37.5 and equation (2): b&#x2264;(&#x2212;5.5a+225.25)/5, where 35.5&#x2264;a&#x2264;40.5.

Fastening copper alloy

A metallic fastener member has a specific color of light gold and also has high strength, discoloration resistance and high workability to withstand practical use. A metallic fastener member including a base material of a copper alloy having composition containing 1 to 30% by mass of Zn and 1 to 11% by mass of Ni, the balance being Cu and inevitable impurities, wherein the metallic fastener member has a Vickers hardness of Hv 120 or more and less than Hv 220.

A copper-zinc alloy product of the invention contains zinc in an amount of higher than 35% by weight and 43% by weight or less and has a two-phase structure of an &#x3b1;-phase and a &#x3b2;-phase. Further, the ratio of the &#x3b2;-phase in the copper-zinc alloy is controlled to be higher than 10% and less than 40% and the crystal grains of the &#x3b1;-phase and the &#x3b2;-phase are crushed into a flat shape and arranged in a layer shape through cold working. According to the copper-zinc alloy product, it is possible to decrease the copper content and to appropriately secure the strength and cold workability by appropriately controlling the ratio of the &#x3b2;-phase.

A button comprises a button body () and a prong () adapted to be arranged on the side of cloth () opposite to the side thereof on which the button body mentioned above is set in place to nip the cloth therebetween and to fixedly secure the button body to the cloth. The button body mentioned above contains an outer shell member (), which comprises a button back () and a cap (), and an insert () accommodated in the outer shell member. In order to make a whitish button which could be heretofore obtained only by plating, at least the button back mentioned above is made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy. Preferably, the button back mentioned above is made of an aluminum alloy containing 3-6% by weight of magnesium, and the cross-sectional thickness of the above-mentioned button back is in the range of 0.25-0.6 mm. Further, it is desirable that the above-mentioned cap and the insert should also be made of an aluminum alloy.

Button

A nickel-free white copper alloy represented by the general formula: Cu Zn Mn Al or Cu Zn Mn Al X , wherein X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti and Cr; b, c, d and e are 0.5&lE;b<5, 7&lE;c&lE;17, 0.5&lE;d&lE;4 and 0<e&lE;0.3 in terms of % by weight; a is the balance, the alloy incidentally including unavoidable elements. The alloy is free from allergic problems, which may be caused by nickel, and has excellent strength, hardness, ductility, workability and corrosion resistance, suitable for use in elements, sliders, stoppers or the like for slide fasteners, or accessories such as metallic buttons, fasteners or the like for clothes.

Nickel-free white copper alloy

A nickel-free white or yellowish copper alloy having excellent corrosion resistance, with high degree of whiteness or yellowness, which is non-allergenic and therefore is suitable for use, for example, in elements, sliders, stoppers and the like for a slide fastener. The alloy consists of a composition represented by the general formula I: Cu.sub.w Zn.sub.x Mn.sub.y (Al and/or Sn).sub.z wherein w, x, y and z denote weight percentages that are within the ranges of 70.ltoreq.w.ltoreq.85, 5.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.22, 7&lt;y.ltoreq.15, and 0&lt;z.ltoreq.4, or by the general formula II: Cu.sub.w Zn.sub.x Mn.sub.y (Al and/or Sn).sub.z wherein w, x, y and z denote weight percentages that are within the ranges of 70.ltoreq.w.ltoreq.85, 10.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.25, 0&lt;y.ltoreq.7, and 0&lt;z.ltoreq.3, wherein both the above alloys could contain other unavoidable elements. The alloy is in a single .alpha.-phase state at room temperature.
