A safety device for a storage battery includes a charge-discharge lead one end of which is connected to a positive electrode side of the storage battery and the other end of which is connected to a positive terminal of the storage battery; a pressure-sensing device which deforms in response to the increase of the pressure in the storage battery; and a cutting device for cutting the charge-discharge lead. The cutting device is pressed by the deformation of the pressure-sensing device to cut the charge-discharge lead.

Battery and safety device therefor

A safety device of the present invention for a storage battery includes a charge-discharge lead one end of which is connected to a positive electrode side of the storage battery and the other end of which is connected to a positive terminal of the storage battery; a pressure-sensing device which deforms in response to the increase of the pressure in the storage battery; and a cutting device for cutting the charge-discharge lead. The cutting device is pressed by the deformation of the pressure-sensing device to cut the charge-discharge lead.

A reduction gear mechanism, incorporating a speed changing mechanism, for use with a motor-driven drill. The mechanism includes at least one planetary speed reducer having a sun gear to which rotation of an electric motor is transmitted, a plurality of planet gears arranged around the sun gear and engaged with the sun gear, an internal gear internally engaged with the planet gears, and a planet gear holding plate which pivotally supports the planet gears on one side of it and has an output shaft on the other side of it. The internal gear of at least one planetary speed reducer includes a cylindrical internal gear. The reduction gear includes mechanisms for locking the cylindrical internal gear to prevent rotation of the cylindrical internal gear and for engaging the cylindrical internal gear with the planet gear holding plate so that the cylindrical internal gear and the planet gear holding plate rotate as a single unit.

A small press or cutting die assembly includes a small prime mover and suitable reduction gearing for driving an eccentric cam. A rockable lever bears on the cam either directly or through intermediate means, the lever being used to drive the pressing or cutting die assembly which is connected through shafts to the rocking lever and a stationary reaction member, respectively.

A control device for a small press is provided with means preventing overloading of the drive motor, a timer for detecting when an operational cycle of the press has exceeded a normal value, and a position detector which notes the position of a cam of the press. The power switch of the drive motor is tripped to suspend the flow of current to the motor upon an indication of the foregoing, e.g., a detected over-current, an excessive cycle time, or an operation end position of the cam.
