A connector includes contact conductors each having two contact portions and a conductor connecting the two contact portions arranged on a flexible printed circuit board folded back so that the contact portions arranged its front and rear faces can be connected to contacts of connecting objects, pushing device provided on the circuit board, and an elastic member arranged between the contact portions on the front and rear faces. Another connector includes a flexible printed circuit board not being folded back, an elastic member held on the side of the circuit board opposite from the contact portions, and at least one pushing member for pushing the circuit board and the connecting objects. A pushing jig includes pushing portions provided on a base material to be pushed against connecting objects, an elastic member held on the base material opposite side of the pushing portions, and at least one pushing member for pushing the base material and the connecting objects. With these constructions, a reduced overall distance between the substrates is possible, and a narrower pitch and stable connection can be obtained.

Connector and pushing jig

An electrical connector for connecting oppositely arranged first and second mating electrical devices includes a support member, a first circuit having a plurality of electric contact elements arranged on one surface of the support member to contact electric contacts of the first mating electrical device, a second circuit having a plurality of electric contact elements arranged on the other surface of the support member to contact electric contacts of the second mating electrical device, and conductors connecting the first and second circuits. The electric contact elements of the first and second circuits are formed in the most suitable manner to meet the shapes of the mating electric contacts, respectively. The support member is formed through its thickness with slits closely around the electric contact elements, respectively. As a result, when the electric contacts of the first mating electrical device urge the electric contact elements arranged on the support member to deform the support member, the electric contacts slide on the electric contact elements, thereby removing solders adhered on the electric contact elements. The slits are arranged at random to be directed substantially in different directions so that horizontal forces caused by the urging forces of the electric contacts of the first mating electrical device are canceled out each other, thereby maintaining the axial alignment of the first mating electrical device with the electrical connector.

Electrical connector

In an electronic component provided with an electric contact(s) producing an electric conduction by contacting with a contact(s) of a second electronic component, the electric contact comprises a lead-free alloy layer containing tin and silver, and a surface layer portion of the alloy layer at least contacting with the contact of the second electronic component is a tin-rich layer having a tin content higher than that of the other portion of the alloy layer.

Electronic component and process for manufacturing the same

An electrical connector includes a first connector having a connector plate and a plurality of electric contacts thereon, and a second connector having a plurality of electric contact elements provided on conductors arranged on a board. The board is formed with slits around the conductors to support the conductors elastically by parts of said board surrounded by the slits. The first and second connectors are brought into detachable abutment against each other to electrically connect to electric contacts and the electric contact elements of the first and second connectors. The electric contact elements of the second connector each are provided with at least one ridge, preferably plural ridges facing to the electric contact of the first connector. The ridges preferably extend in parallel with the direction of sliding movement of the electric contacts caused by the elastic support of the conductors. With this arrangement, after repeated connections between two connectors a great many times more than thousands, no foreign substance can adhere to the electric contact elements and no longer is there any incorrect electrical connection between the contacts.

Electrical connectors adapted to reduce or prevent adherence of conductive material to contact portions as the connector

A contact structure of an electrical connector including a first connector having a plurality of electric contacts and a second connector having a plurality of electric contact elements elastically and independently supported by forming slits close about the electric contact elements. When the first connector is first urged against the second connector, the electric contact elements are inclined at an angle &agr; by the electric contacts. When the urging force of the first connector is then reduced, the electric contact elements are returned through an angle &bgr; which is less than the angle &agr; to accomplish the electrical connection between the electric contacts and the electric contact elements. An inspecting device for such an electrical connector includes a housing having a fitting opening for the first connector, a cover pivotally connected to the housing and having an anchoring portion engageable with an engaging portion of the housing, and a block for mounting the second connector thereon. The engagement of the anchoring portion and the engaging portion with a clearance corresponds to the inclination of the electric contacts elements of the second connector at the angle &agr;, and the engagement without the clearance corresponds to the inclination of the electric contact elements which has been returned through the angle &bgr; from the inclination at the angle &agr;.

Contact structure of electrical connector and inspecting device therefor

An electrical connector includes a first connector having a plurality of electric contacts and a second connector having a plurality of electric contact elements which are to be contacted with the electric contacts of the first connector when the first and second connectors are connected. A board of the second connector which supports its electric contact elements is formed with slits closely surrounding the respective electric contact elements. Preferably, the board consists of a first board formed with the slits described above and a second board formed with an opening having an area corresponding to the whole area of the first board provided with the electric contact elements. Alternatively, small tongue-shaped movable pieces supporting the electric contacts of the second connector are previously inclined at an angle &agr; toward the electric contacts of the first connector, and the electric contacts of the second connector are inclined at an angle &bgr; in opposite side of the angle &agr; in a relation &agr;>&bgr; when the first and second connectors have been completely connected. With these construction, the electrical connector becomes compact and is able to prevent any incorrect connection between the electric contacts and the electric contact elements of the first and second connectors and to ensure the required impedance characteristics even if there are differences in height between the electric contacts of the first connector.
