A sliding constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member connected to a power transmission member and an inner joint member connected to an end portion of a shaft, for torque transmission between the outer joint member and the inner joint member while allowing an angle change and an axial change therebetween. The outer joint member incorporates therein an elastic member axially expandable/retractable between a tip of the shaft connected to the inner joint member and the outer joint member; the tip of the shaft is provided with a shaft protruding portion for supporting an inner diameter portion of a shaft-side end of the elastic member; the elastic member has its outer-joint-member side end provided with a receptacle for fitting into an inner diameter portion of the elastic member; the outer joint member has its inner surface press-fitted by an end plate; and the receptacle is pressed onto the end plate in the inner surface of the outer joint member.

Slidable constant speed universal joint

A slidable constant velocity universal joint holds an elastic member (coil spring) in a stable attitude even if an associated shaft makes an oscillating motion, thereby achieving an improvement in terms of stability in torque transmission. The slidable constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member connected to a power transmission member, and an inner joint member connected to an end portion of a shaft, with torque transmission being possible between the outer joint member and the inner joint member while allowing angular displacement and axial displacement. At a forward end of the shaft, there is provided an elastic member for elastically urging the outer joint member toward the power transmission member, and, between the elastic member and the forward end of the shaft, there is interposed a bearing member for guiding the forward end of the shaft while in contact therewith.

Slidable constant velocity universal joint

A double constant velocity universal joint includes two constant velocity universal joints, each having a cylindrical outer joint member with a plurality of axially extending guide grooves in a spherical inner circumferential surface thereof, an inner joint member with a plurality of axially extending guide grooves formed in a spherical outer circumferential surface, torque transmitting balls each arranged in the ball tracks formed by both guide grooves of the outer joint member and the inner joint member, and a retainer for retaining the balls. The outer joint members are coaxially united back to back, and a cover member having an inner spherical surface that makes sliding contact with the outer circumferential surface of the outer joint member is attached to a shaft that is connected to the inner joint member.
