There is provided a hook-and-loop fastener manufacturing method. Injection molding is performed to form a molded product in which a pillar group and a base plate having a surface from which the pillar group protrudes are integrated into a unified body. A tip part of the pillar group is cut to form a cut product in which a small pillar group shorter than the pillar group and the base plate are integrated into a unified body. A tip part of the small pillar group is melted to form pillar body portions which are non-melted portions and engaging portions which are melted portions and thicker than the pillar body portions from small pillars. The engaging portions are cooled to determine shapes of a plurality of engaging elements including the pillar body portions and the engaging portions.

The guide bar () has a to-be-held section () at a tip end thereof, a dent () at a middle portion thereof, and a sub to-be-held section () at a base end thereof. When making an engagement, the plug () is slanted relative to the socket (), so that the guide bar () contacts contact points (P), P). When the plug has been inserted into a depth end of the socket, the to-be-held section () and the sub to-be-held section () are held by a holding section () and a sub holding section () of the socket (), thereby stabilizing engagement posture.

The invention provides a fastener slider, wherein the fastener element comprising an element main body constituted of a base portion attached to a fastener tape, a neck portion and an engaging head portion continuous from the neck portion and expanding in a tape length direction and stiffening means provided on the element main body, allowing a fastener stringer to bend when the elements are separated and inhibiting the fastener chain from bending when the elements are engaged in a stiffening condition, the stiffening means having a first firm contact face making firm contact with mating stiffening means when the elements are engaged and a second firm contact face making firm contact with a partial surface of the engaging head portion of the fastener element when the elements are engaged, thereby the slide fastener having a rigid, linear or curved rod-like configuration when fastener elements are engaged, allowing it to deform in multiple directions.
