A method of degrading a dye in an aqueous solution including contacting nanoparticles with the dye in the aqueous solution and irradiating the aqueous solution. The nanoparticles have a formula of ZnCeYbO, x=0.01-0.1, and where at least 90 wt. % of the dye is degraded during the irradiating of the aqueous solution.

A magnetoelectric nanocomposite (MEN) is described. The MEN are used as a colorectal cancer treatment. The MEN includes a shell having at least one ferroelectric compound and a rare earth (R) metal doped spinel ferrite nanoparticle (SFNP) core, of a formula of CoMnRFeOwherein x=0.1-0.9, y=1.90-1.99, and z=3-5; and R is at least one rare earth metal selected from the group consisting of cerium (Ce), europium (Eu), gadolinium (Gd), terbium (Tb) and thulium (Tm). A method of making MENs is also provided.

Magnetoelectric nanocomposites and method of preparation thereof

A magnetoelectric multiferroic nanocomposite. The nanocomposite comprises a ferroelectric perovskite oxide and a rare-earth substituted mixed ternary transition metal ferrite of the formula ABRFeO. The nanocomposite has a high dielectric constant, low dielectric loss, both stable over a wide frequency range. These properties may make the nanocomposite desirable for applications in microelectronic devices, sensors and antennas.

Method for forming rare earth-substitute nanocomposite

A method of producing polycrystalline YBaCuO(Y-358) whereby powders of yttrium (III) oxide, a barium (II) salt, and copper (II) oxide are pelletized, calcined at 850 to 950° C. for 8 to 16 hours, ball milled under controlled conditions, pelletized again and sintered in an oxygen atmosphere at 900 to 1000° C. for up to 72 hours. The polycrystalline YBaCuOthus produced is in the form of elongated crystals having an average length of 2 to 10 μm and an average width of 1 to 2 μm, and embedded with spherical nanoparticles of yttrium deficient YBaCuOhaving an average diameter of 5 to 20 nm. The spherical nanoparticles are present as agglomerates having flower-like morphology with an average particles size of 30 to 60 nm. The ball milled polycrystalline YBaCuOprepared under controlled conditions shows significant enhancement of superconducting and flux pinning properties.

Method for making superconducting coil for magnetic resonance imaging

A superconducting material includes YBaCuOand a nano-structured, preferably nanowires, WOdopant in a range of from 0.01 to 3.0 wt. %, preferably 0.075 to 0.2 wt. %, based on total material weight. Methods of making the superconductor may preferably avoid solvents and pursue solid-state synthesis employing Y, Ba, and/or Cu oxides and/or carbonates.
