The present invention relates to effective diagnosis of patients and assisting clinicians in treatment planning. In particular, invention provides a medical analysis system that enables refinement of molecular classification. The system provides a molecular profiling solution that will allow improved diagnosis, prognosis, response prediction to provide the right chemotherapy, and follow-up to monitor for cancer recurrence.

Medical analysis system

An apparatus that identifies an object includes a frequency detector () that detects a frequency over which an RFID tag () communicates, and an object identifier () that identifies the object based at least in part upon the detected frequency. The frequency detector may detect a plurality of frequencies over which a plurality of RFID tags transmit information. The apparatus also optionally includes a frequency pattern generator that generates a frequency pattern that is indicative of an identity of the object, wherein the object identifier compares the generated frequency pattern with known frequency patterns to determine the identity of the object.

This invention relates to a method and an apparatus for determining a reliability indicator for at least one set of signatures obtained from clinical data collected from a group of samples. The signatures are obtained by detecting characteristics in the clinical data from the group of sample sand each of the signatures generate a first set of stratification values that stratify the group of samples. At least one additional and parallel stratification source to the signatures obtained from group of sample sis provided, the at least one additional and parallel stratification source to the signatures being independent from the signatures and generates a second set of stratification values. A comparison is done for each respective sample, where the first stratification values are compared with a true reference stratification values, and where the second stratification values are compared with the true reference stratification values. The signatures are assigned with similarity measure indicators indicating whether the first and the second stratification values match with the true reference stratification values. These are then implementing as input in determining the reliability of the signatures.

A system and method are provided for executing an executable clinical practice guideline for providing guidance in treating a patient. A guideline repository stores a plurality of executable clinical practice guidelines. At least one interface receives clinical context data associated with at least one of the patient and the patient's treatment. A system server, upon receipt of said clinical context data, automatically chooses an appropriate guideline and controls a display to display the guideline at its present level of abstraction, and a visual navigator which defines the current level of abstraction. The level of abstraction is changed via a user input between a higher level of abstraction in which fewer more abstract steps of the guidelines are displayed and a lower level of abstraction in which more, detailed steps are displayed.

System and method for providing a customized service in a network. The system comprises at least one originating device that provides an identifier of one of a user and a product associated with the user (Tag ID) and an identifier of the customized service (Object ID). It further includes a processor that supports an action table. The processor receives the Tag ID and Object ID from the at least one originating device, and uses at least the received Tag ID and Object ID to look up a corresponding action in the action table. A servicing node in the system receives the action and performs at least partial execution of the action, thereby generating results comprising the customized service.

An apparatus and method for scaling the power consumption of a video processor is provided. The apparatus includes a video processor having a plurality of video-processing modules for receiving a stream of image signals at an input and producing a processed image stream at an output, wherein the video processor is initially set to process each received pixel of the image stream according to a preset power-consumption level; an evaluator, coupled to the video processor, for determining an objective-quality metric of the pixel characteristics that are indicative of video quality in the image stream; and, a power-management module, coupled to the evaluator, for obtaining a new power-consumption level for the video processor from a predetermined table according to the objective-quality metric determined by the evaluator, wherein the predetermined table contains a number of different arrangements of the video-processing modules to generate a plurality of power-consumption level. Alternatively, the user may also set the new power-consumption level manually.

A method for creating a personality profile based upon an explicit association between icons/objects and attributes describing some of the values with which a person associates with themselves is disclosed. The person may own/acquire one or more icons/objects. The icon/objects in conjunction with labeling technology allow for accessing of object profiles. Using information from the object profiles, attributes for a personality profile are complied about the person. This personality profile projects an explicit, quantified image about the person, that could be used to tailor advertising, marketing, or other services.

A method of operating a system including a digital network interconnected intelligent digital devices (IDDS) generating and receiving eXtensible Markup Language (XML) documents containing data and respective Document Type Definitions (DTDs) describing the data content. Preferably, the method includes steps for transmitting a generated XML document from a first IDD to a second IDD, and, when the respective DTD for the generated XML document satisfies a predetermined criteria, operating on the data contained in the XML document at the second IDD. In a first exemplary case, the second IDD maintains a list of trusted DTDs, and the predetermined criteria is equality between the name of the respective DTD and the name of a trusted DTD. Alternatively, the predetermined criteria is satisfied by inclusion of the name of a program residing on the second IDD in the respective DTD. In a second exemplary case, the transmitting step includes transmitting the generated XML document from the first IDD to the second IDD and a third IDD, the operating step includes operating on the data contained in the XML document at the second IDD when the respective DTD for the generated XML document satisfies a first predetermined criteria, and the method further includes the step of operating on the data contained in the XML document at the third IDD when the respective DTD for the generated XML document satisfies a second predetermined criteria. A system composed of IDDs interconnected by an in home digital network (IHDN) or other mechanism, which system can be operated by the method mentioned above, is also described.

A method and system are for transforming an XML document structured according to a set of XML grammar rules to at least one XML document structured according to at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules. The system includes a controller capable of executing a set of programmable instructions for retrieving at least one grammar restriction style sheet (GRSS) corresponding to at least one subset of a set of XML grammar rules, where the at least one GRSS includes transformation rules for transforming an XML document to at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules; and a transformation engine for using the transformation rules of each retrieved GRSS for transforming data elements of the XML document to data elements structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules to transform the XML document to the at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules. The method includes the steps of retrieving at least one GRSS corresponding to the at least one subset of a set of XML grammar rules, where the at least one GRSS includes transformation rules for transforming an XML document to at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules; and transforming data elements of the XML document using the transformation rules of the at least one retrieved GRSS to data elements structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules to transform the XML document to the at least one XML document structured according to the at least one subset of the set of XML grammar rules.
