A computer program product and a system comprising: a cluster of Secure Execution Platforms (SEPs) having connectivity to a data storage, each SEP of said cluster is configured to maintain, using a key, confidentiality of data while processing thereof; the key is shared among the SEPs of said cluster, the key is automatically generated by the cluster or portion thereof and is unavailable to any non-cluster entity; the data storage retains encrypted data that is encrypted using the key; a first SEP of the cluster is configured to encrypt client data using the key to obtain encrypted client data and store the encrypted client data in the data storage; and a second SEP of the cluster is configured to retrieve encrypted stored data from the data storage, decrypt the encrypted stored data using the key to obtain non-encrypted form of the encrypted stored data.

Cluster of secure execution platforms

A system to reduce the amount of storage and memory used to maintain derived datasets is disclosed. The system operates by using pointers to the underlying data in persistent, byte-addressable storage media. The system additionally reduces the creation time of the views when storage class memory (SCM) is the underlying storage. Furthermore, the invention relates to a form of compression that is tailored to the use cases of big data analytics. The processes of this disclosure use random access to significantly improve performance.

Method for efficient derived data views using byte addressable persistent storage

Automatically generating code used with device drivers for interfacing with hardware. The method includes receiving a machine readable description of a hardware device, including at least one of hardware registers or shared memory structures of the hardware device. The method further includes determining an operating system with which the hardware device is to be used. The method further includes processing the machine readable description on a code generation tool to automatically generate code for a hardware driver for the hardware device specific to the determined operating system.

Software interface for a hardware device

Methods, computing systems and computer program products implement embodiments of the present invention that include defining a first multiple of software container configurations and a second multiple of permission sets, and receiving, by a first computer, a request to perform a service operation on a second computer having multiple resources. Upon identifying one or more of the resources that are required for the service operation, a given software container configuration and a given permission set are selected based on the identified one or more resources, and the given software container configuration and the given permission set are conveyed to the second computer. Upon the second computer receiving the given software container configuration and the given permission set, a software container is generated. The software container is opened on the host computer prior to performing the service operation, and closed upon completing the service operation.

Container-based system administration

Enforcing limitations on hardware drivers. The method includes from a system kernel, assigning I/O resources to the system's root bus. From the root bus, the method further includes assigning a subset of the I/O resources to a device bus. Assigning a subset of the I/O resources to a device bus includes limiting the device bus to only be able to assign I/O resources that are assigned to it by the root bus. From the device bus, the method includes assigning I/O resources to a device through a device interface.

Capability based device driver framework

Searching for patterns stored on a hardware storage device. A method includes, as part of a memory refresh operation, performing a read to read contents of a portion of a memory. The method further includes writing the read contents of the portion of memory back to the portion of memory. The read contents are provided to data comparison logic. Using the data comparison logic; the read contents are compared to predetermined data patterns. A determination is made as to whether or not the contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns. When the read contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns, a software readable indicator is provided indicating that the read contents match at least one of the predetermined data patterns. Similar embodiments may be implemented using hard drive head wear leveling operations.

Utilization of memory refresh cycles for pattern matching

An apparatus having a content-addressable memory (CAM) that stores a plurality of entries comprising portions of a plurality of patterns; a memory that stores a shift value corresponding to each of the entries; and a controller that generates a first key based on a received string, applies the first key to the CAM to select an entry of the CAM, retrieves the shift value from the memory corresponding to the selected entry, in response to the shift value being equal to a predetermined value, identifies an initial match, and in response to the initial match corresponding to a first pattern of the plurality of patterns that is larger than the entries of the CAM, applies adjacent keys based on the received string to the CAM, and declares a complete match when each of the corresponding shift values from the memory is equal to the predetermined value.

High performance pattern matching

Systems and methods for optimizing performance in a computing environment are provided. The system comprises means for monitoring execution of annotated logic code associated with a software component to determine whether a condition has been satisfied, wherein annotations in the logic code provide one or more details about the software component, the details being useful to a healing agent to correct a problem associated with said condition during the execution of the logic code.

Self-healing system and method for code optimization in a computing environment

Systems and methods for optimizing memory management in a runtime environment are provided. The method comprises monitoring one or more objects loaded into primary memory of a computing system to determine if at least a first object can be removed from the primary memory; instantiating a proxy object to replace the first object in the primary memory; removing the first object from the primary memory; and monitoring calls to the proxy object to determine whether the first object is invoked by a process.

Managing memory resident objects to optimize a runtime environment

Apparatus having corresponding methods and computer programs, to detect a pattern in a string, comprises a memory circuit to store W-character segments of the pattern, where each segment comprises a fragment of the pattern; a key circuit to generate W-character keys each including a fragment of the string; a comparison circuit to compare the keys and the segments; where, when a segment matches a key, the comparison circuit indicates an initial match between the pattern and the string; and where, when one of the segments matches only a L-character fragment of one of the keys, wherein L&#x3c;W, the key circuit generates a new key including the L-character fragment and a K-character fragment of the string including K=W&#x2212;L consecutive characters from the string that are adjacent to the L matching characters in the string.
