The technology provides for a magnetic sensing device. The device includes a magnetic sensor configured to generate a first output triggered by a first polarity and a second output triggered by a second polarity. The device includes a first magnet, a second magnet, and a third magnet. The device may be configured such that, when the second magnet is not within a predetermined distance from the first magnet, a magnetic field from the first magnet having the first polarity causes the first output and the second output to have a first set of values. The device may be configured such that, when the second magnet is within the predetermined distance from the first magnet, a magnetic field from the third magnet having the second polarity causes the first output and the second output to have a second set of values.

This document describes apparatuses and techniques for providing a flexible connector between a secondary circuit board and a main logic board with a permeability shield to increase impedance of the flexible connector to reduce antenna loss from an antenna via the flexible connector to the main logic board. For example, an apparatus includes a secondary circuit board supporting one or more control pads and an antenna. A flexible connector includes a plurality of conductive traces configured to electrically couple the one or more control pads of the secondary circuit board to a coupling on a main logic board. A permeability shield is configured to be disposed along one or more portions of the flexible connector. The permeability shield is configured to increase impedance of the flexible connector to reduce antenna loss of the antenna via the control pads and the flexible connector to the main logic board.

This document describes improved driving circuits for piezoelectric speakers (piezos). In aspects, a charging case for a hearable device includes a piezo and a circuit for driving the piezo having a battery, an inductor, first and second switches, and a microcontroller. The microcontroller is configured to first toggle the first switch for a number of times to charge the piezoelectric speaker via the inductor to a target voltage level and second toggle the second switch to discharge and thus sound the piezo. In such aspects, the first toggling of the first switch and the second toggling of the second switch control a volume and frequency, respectively, of the sounding, improving audio quality and providing finder features to users. Further, charging the piezoelectric speaker via the inductor enables the inductor to be smaller, conserving space within and power consumption of the charging case, leading to improved battery life.

Driving circuits for piezoelectric speakers

A circuit for controlling an interface between an integrated circuit of an electronic device and an external device includes each of an interface control switch and an overvoltage protection switch. The interface control switch includes a controller for controlling a mode of the interface between a data communication mode that connects the external device to the integrated circuit of the electronic device via one or more communication lines of the electronic device, and a power transmission mode that connects a power source of the external device to a battery of the electronic device. The controller includes a reset line for resetting the interface control switch. The overvoltage protection switch is connected between the one or more communication ports and the reset line, and is configured to activate the reset line of the controller in response to an overvoltage condition at the one or more communication lines of the electronic device.

The present disclosure provides for an arrangement of components within a hearable device, such as earbuds, to reduce H field coupling for E noise improvement. A battery is positioned above a magnet and speaker, such that the battery is not coaxially aligned with either the magnet or the speaker. An internal positive tab of a battery is positioned farthest from a speaker yoke, while an internal negative tab of the battery is closer to the speaker yoke. Magnetic flux poles of a contact magnet have different contributions for electric field coupling.

Method to reduce H-field coupling for E-noise and a kind of non-coaxial integrated earbuds

The subject matter described herein provides systems and techniques for controlling the production of eNoise in an audio playback system. The eNoise may be an audible noise produced when a current, such as a noise/ripple current, flows through a battery of the audio playback system. Such eNoise may be reduced by limiting the current, such as noise/ripple current, flowing through the battery. In some examples, the noise/ripple current may be diverted to the main board of the audio playback system by adding a source of current. A circuit to produce such a current may include transistor(s), capacitor(s), and/or resistor(s). Using the current source and/or such a circuit may also divert the noise/ripple current away from the battery, thereby reducing the eNoise produced.

A first electronic device, electronically coupled to a second device for supplying a charge to the second electronic device, tracks the voltage requirements of the second device and dynamically adjusts its output voltage upwards or downwards to match such requirements. The second electronic device may provide feedback to the first electronic device through a feedback loop. The feedback may include an indication of the voltage requirements and/or instructions for adjusting the voltage output of the first electronic device. The second device may be, for example, a wearable audio device, while the first device is a case for the wearable audio device.

Dynamic adjustment of charging voltage supplied from a first device to a second device

A first device provides both power and data to a second device over a power line connection between the two devices. The first device includes a power line extending from a power supply, a ground line extending from a ground, a first impedance in the power line, and a second impedance in the ground line. A modulator comprised of a transistor and modulator impedance is between the first impedance and the second impedance, and a tank capacitor is between the power line and the ground line, outside the first impedance and second impedance. A comparator is coupled between the first and second impedance. A switch may be included to short out the first and second impedance, thereby enabling transmission of only power for period of time, and return to a mode of transmitting both data and power. The first device may also receive data from the second device over the power line connection.

The present disclosure provides a magnetic system within a case for an electronic accessory. The case may include a housing portion and a lid coupled to the housing portion. Within the housing portion may be a housing magnet. The housing magnet may be oriented such that the magnetic field of the housing magnet is oriented transverse to a longitudinal axis of the case. The housing magnet may have a size and strength to magnetically couple the electronic accessory within a cavity of the housing. A hinge magnet may be located along an axis of rotation of the lid with respect to the housing. The hinge magnet and housing magnet may magnetically interact to form a bistable magnetic hinge. Thus, the one housing magnet may be large enough and have a strong enough magnetic field to perform various functions.

A wearable audio device sized to fit within an ear of an user comprises an outer housing; a circuit board positioned within the outer housing; a battery having an anode and a cathode, the battery being connected to the circuit board; a speaker adjacent the battery; and an electromagnetic interference ('EMI') shield tab coupled to the anode. The EMI shield tab may be configured to shield the speaker from EMI generated by the circuit board and to provide an electrical interconnection to the anode. A short circuit protection circuit may comprise a first configuration channel line extending from a first connector, a first resistor connected to the first configuration channel line; a voltage divider connected to a junction point on the first configuration channel line, the voltage divider comprising a second resistor and a thermistor, and a field effect transistor (FET) comprising a source, gate, and drain. The thermistor may be connected to a ground line. The drain of the FET may be connected to the first resistor, the source of the FET may be connected to the ground line, and the gate of the FET may be connected to a second junction point between the second resistor and thermistor of the voltage divider.

The present disclosure describes a system and method for protecting an electronic device from high voltages that may exceed tolerance limits for circuitry within the electronic device. A protection circuit blocks high voltages from the device components through gating techniques. Such gating techniques may similarly be used to control whether power is received by the electronic components when an error condition is detected by a control unit.

Input power control and protection

This document describes techniques and devices for detecting twist input with an interactive cord. An interactive cord may be constructed with one or more conductive yarns wrapped around a cable in a first direction (e.g., clockwise), and one or more conductive yarns wrapped around the cable in a second direction that is opposite the first direction (e.g., counter-clockwise). A controller measures one or more capacitance values associated with the conductive yarns. In response to detecting a change in the one or more capacitance values, the controller determines that the change in the capacitance values corresponds to twist input caused by the user twisting the interactive cord. Then, the controller initiates one or more functions based on the twist input, such as by controlling audio to a headset by increasing or decreasing the volume, scrolling through menu items, and so forth.
