This application provides an operating system update method, an electronic device, and a storage medium. In the method, an installation manner of an update file corresponding to a sub-partition of a super partition depends on current available space of a user data partition and a size (a compressed size or an uncompressed size) of the update file, so that it can be determined, based on a specific case in an operating system update process, whether to use a cow compression function.

Embodiments of this application provide an operating system upgrade method applied to an electronic device, and the method includes: obtaining a first upgrade installation package, where the first upgrade installation package includes a first upgrade file; storing the first upgrade file in a user data partition; restarting the electronic device, and loading data in a basic partition and a second static partition; loading data in another sub-partition other than a first sub-partition in a dynamic partition, and loading the first upgrade file; and merging the first upgrade file into the first sub-partition of the dynamic partition. The method further includes: synchronizing data in a first static partition to the second static partition. According to the method in embodiments of this application, independent upgrade may be performed on a customized sub-partition in a dynamic partition, to upgrade a customized operating system.

The method includes: running a first operating system; obtaining a first system upgrade installation package that includes first update data and a second system upgrade installation package that includes second update data; storing the first update data and the second update data in a user data partition; restarting an electronic device; loading data in a basic partition and a second static partition; loading first dynamic partition data to run a third operating system, where second dynamic partition data corresponds to a result of superposition of third dynamic partition data and the second update data, and the third dynamic partition data corresponds to a result of superposition of data in a dynamic partition and the first update data; and merging the first update data and the second update data into the dynamic partition.

Embodiments of this application provides an operating system data update method, a device, a storage medium, and a computer program product. The method is applied to an electronic device. After starting, the electronic device loads data from a basic partition, a first static partition, and a dynamic partition to run a first operating system. After the first operating system runs, the method includes: obtaining a patch package based on the version number of the first operating system; updating data in the second static partition based on the patch package, after confirming the data of the first static partition is consistent with the data of the second static partition; modifying a startup sequence of the electronic device from starting from the first static partition to starting from the second static partition; restarting the electronic device.

Embodiments of this application provide an operating system management method, a device, and a storage medium. The method includes: loading data in a basic partition, a first static partition, and a dynamic partition to run a first operating system; upgrading data in a second static partition; restarting the electronic device, and determining that a current startup sequence is starting from the second static partition; and loading data in the basic partition, the second static partition, and the dynamic partition to run a second operating system. After the restarting the electronic device, and determining that a current startup sequence is starting from the second static partition, the method further includes: synchronizing the data in the second static partition to the first static partition. When an error occurs in a currently loaded static partition, data of another static partition may be used for recovery.
