The shaving unit can be positioned relative to the main body in at least two different angular positions about a central axis () of the shaving unit. A value of the geometric parameter of at least one of the hair-cutting units is different from the values of the geometric parameter of the other hair-cutting units.

Predicting the appearance of a user following treatment

In an embodiment, a method () is described. The method comprises receiving () data corresponding to an ambient-corrected image of a subject illuminated by an illumination unit () providing temporally modulated illumination with a modulation frequency that is higher than a frame acquisition rate used by an imaging device () to obtain a set of images having a different spatial intensity modulation pattern in each image. The ambient-corrected image is constructed from the obtained set of images. The method () further comprises determining () a signal-to-noise ratio, SNR, of at least a portion of the ambient-corrected image. In response to determining that the SNR is below a target SNR, the method causes () an indication of an illumination parameter to be sent to the illumination unit to increase an amplitude modulation depth of the temporally modulated illumination used to illuminate the subject while the imaging device acquires a subsequent set of images for constructing a subsequent ambient-corrected image.

Signal-to-noise ratio targeting

A handheld personal care device having one or more light emitting elements and one or more light receiving elements is disclosed. Each of the light receiving elements is configured to receive light and output a respective measurement signal representing measurements of the received light. The handheld personal care device also has a control unit to estimate a position and/or an orientation of the device relative to a subject. The light emitting elements and the light receiving elements are arranged on the device such that, depending on the position and/or the orientation of the device relative to the subject, at least one of the light receiving elements can receive light emitted by at least one of light emitting elements and reflected by a reflective surface in the environment of the subject. The control unit estimates the position and/or the orientation of the device relative to the subject based on an analysis of the respective measurement signals of the light receiving elements.

The control unit () is configured to control the projection unit to determine a feature of the body part of the user, generate an optical guide to be projected onto the body part based on the determined feature, and control the projection unit to project the optical guide. A computer-implemented method of determining a location of a personal care device with respect to a skin surface of a subject, the personal care device being configured to perform a personal care treatment to the skin when in contact with the skin surface. The method includes receiving data representative of a measured degree of curvature of the skin surface within a first region of the skin surface of the subject, with which the personal care device is in contact; determining, by comparing the measured degree of curvature with curvature information for a plurality of regions of the skin surface of the subject contained in a database, an indication of a location of the first region of the skin surface on the subject; and performing, based on the determined indication of the location of the first region, an action in respect of the personal care device. Determining a location of a device

In an embodiment, a method () is described. The method is a computer-implemented method. The method comprises receiving () pixel information corresponding to at least part of a first, second and third image, acquired by an imaging system, of a subject illuminated by temporally modulated illumination. A time delay between an acquisition start time of the first, second and third images is such that there is an overlap in time during acquisition of the first, second and third images. The method further comprises determining () modified pixel information for constructing a modified image of the subject. The modified pixel information is determined based on: a difference between the received pixel information of the first, second and third images to reduce an effect of ambient lighting in the received pixel information; and a combination of the received pixel information to cancel out a spatial intensity modulation pattern apparent in each of the first, second and third images. The spatial intensity modulation pattern is due to a timing relationship between an imaging time period over which the imaging system acquires each image and a modulation time period of the temporally modulated illumination.

Hand-held device for performing a treatment operation

A hair cutting device for cutting hair on a body of a subject includes a light source for generating laser light at one or more specific wavelengths corresponding to wavelengths absorbed by one or more chromophores in hair; and a cutting element that has an optical waveguide that is coupled to the light source to receive laser light. A portion of a side wall of the optical waveguide forms a cutting face for contacting hair where, at least at the cutting face, the optical waveguide has a refractive index that is equal to or lower than the refractive index of hair and higher than the refractive index of skin.

The present invention relates to an oxytocin release stimulation device (′) that can be arranged at or close to skin of a user (). The oxytocin release stimulation device (′) comprises a lighting unit (′) and a control unit (″). The control unit (″) controls the lighting unit (′) such that the lighting unit (′) provides light with specific wavelengths and radiant exposures to the skin of the user () for a duration that ensures stimulation of a release of oxytocin. Release of oxytocin allows to stimulate a milk ejection reflex and thus to support milk extraction, e.g. when the oxytocin release stimulation device () is used with a breast pump (′). The oxytocin release stimulation device (′) can furthermore allow to reach an oxytocin level during pregnancy that allows to reduce the risk of postpartum depression or that allows to facilitate induction of labor.
