A fluid measuring device for determining at least one characteristic property of a fluid includes a measuring tube having a fluid duct and a measuring section in which the measuring tube is cylindrical on the inside and an area of a measuring tube wall is configured as a waveguide, and a transmitter for exciting acoustic waves in the waveguide and a receiver for receiving acoustic waves which are in direct contact with an outer surface of the waveguide, wherein acoustic waves excited by the transmitter are adapted to propagate as a volume wave through the fluid. The waveguide has an elongated waveguide path which extends at an acute angle to a longitudinal extension direction of the measuring tube and with a component in the circumferential direction, wherein in the area of the waveguide path, the measuring tube wall has a smaller wall thickness than in areas adjoining the waveguide path.

Fluid analysis utilizing acoustic waveguides applied angularly to fluid flow

A fluid measuring device for determining at least one characteristic property of a fluid includes a measuring tube having a fluid duct and a measuring section in which an area of a measuring tube wall is configured as a waveguide for surface acoustic waves which forms an interface to the fluid. At least two piezoelectric transducers are arranged in direct contact with an outer surface of the waveguide and one of which serves as a transmitter for exciting acoustic waves and at least one as a receiver for receiving acoustic waves. Acoustic waves excited by the transmitter can propagate as a volume wave through the fluid, and the piezoelectric transducers are configured to be elastically flexible while retaining their function in that the piezoelectric transducers have strip-shaped piezoelectric elements arranged parallel to each other, are rigid per se and between which a respective layer of an elastic material is arranged.

Fluid measuring device

A fluid measuring arrangement with a flow channel for a fluid to be measured having at least two areas of an outer wall forming waveguide parts for surface acoustic waves. The waveguide parts are spaced apart from each other along the circumference of the flow channel. A first and/or a second signal converter is arranged at each waveguide part, wherein at least two first signal converters arranged on different waveguide parts or two second signal converters arranged on different waveguide parts are spaced with respect to each other in the axial direction of the flow channel.

A fluid meter has a housing comprising a flow channel for fluid to be measured and at least one elongate module-receiving opening forming a passage from an outer surface of the housing to the flow channel. At least one fluid-measuring module, prefabricated separately, from the housing with a base section formed as a waveguide for surface acoustic waves, and at least one signal transformer to excite surface acoustic waves in the waveguide and/or receive surface acoustic waves from the waveguide is provided. When inserted into the module-receiving opening, the base section of the fluid-measuring module forms part of the flow channel inner wall and contacts fluid flowing through it. Surface acoustic waves emitted by the signal transformer can be coupled out of the waveguide and can propagate through fluid in the flow channel as bulk acoustic waves and/or bulk acoustic waves can be coupled into the waveguide and received by the signal transformer.

A measuring device with a fluid module is proposed, which comprises a measuring tube through which a fluid can flow and at least one acoustic measuring unit. The at least one acoustic measuring unit comprises at least one transmitter, at least one receiver as well as at least one waveguide. The measuring tube has at least one measuring section with a substantially angular internal cross section and at least one connecting section with a non-angular internal cross section, wherein the measuring tube has at least one transition section, which extends between the measuring section and the connecting section. The transition section has an internal cross section identical to the internal cross section of the measuring section at an end allocated to the measuring section and further an internal cross section identical to the internal cross section of the connecting section at an end allocated to the connecting section.
