This antenna includes a first part, a second part rotatably mounted about a first axis, and a rotary joint arranged between the first and second parts, the second part including a radiating source and a reflection assembly having a reflector defining a reflector top, a focus, and a second axis passing through the reflector top and the focus, the rotary joint being able to transmit electromagnetic signals between the first and second parts via at least one transmission channel, and the first and second parts being so arranged that in any position of the second part and the reflection unit, the first axis is perpendicular to the second axis.

A transmit and/or receive array antenna comprises an array (R) of sub-arrays (SR) of at least one radiating element (ER) and control means charged with controlling the amplitude and/or the phase of the radiofrequency signals to be transmitted or received in the form of waves by each of the sub-arrays (SR) so that they transmit or receive signals according to a chosen pattern. The sub-arrays (SR) comprise a mean number of radiating elements (ER) which increases from the center of the array (R) to its periphery, and are arranged with respect to one another so as to constitute an irregular mesh offering pattern sidelobes of low intensity and a high gain in a favored direction.

The invention relates to a receive (or send) antenna for a geosynchronous satellite of a telecommunications system intended to cover a territory divided into areas, the beam intended for each area being defined by a plurality of radiating elements, or sources, disposed in the vicinity of the focal plane of a reflector. The antenna includes at least one first matrix each input of which is connected to a radiating element and each output (or input) of which is connected to a corresponding input of an inverse Butler matrix by an amplifier and a phase-shifter. The phase-shifters move the areas or correct pointing errors.

The invention relates to a radiating source for transmitting and receiving, intended to be installed on board a satellite to define a radiation pattern in a terrestrial zone, said source being intended to be disposed in or near the focal plane of a reflector associated with other sources corresponding to other terrestrial zones. The source includes a plurality of radiating apertures, each of which has an efficiency at least equal to 70%, and feed means for feeding said radiating apertures. The radiating apertures and their feed means are such that the energy radiated by all of the radiating apertures is practically limited to the corresponding reflector, at least for transmission.
