Exploratory beamforming training techniques for 60 GHz devices are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a station (STA) comprising logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware, the logic to identify an exploratory link quality associated with an exploratory beamforming configuration for a directionally-beamformed wireless link, determine whether to revert to a previous beamforming configuration for the directionally-beamformed wireless link based on the exploratory link quality, and in response to a determination to revert to the previous beamforming configuration, send a frame comprising a rollback notification for the directionally-beamformed wireless link. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Exploratory beamforming training techniques for 60 GHz devices

Reciprocity detection and utilization techniques for beamforming training are described. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a station (STA) comprising logic, at least a portion of which is in hardware, the logic to perform an initiator transmit sector sweep (TXSS) to select an initiator transmit (TX) sector, perform a beamforming reciprocity test using the selected initiator TX sector, and determine whether to perform directional reception using a reciprocal initiator receive (RX) sector for the initiator TX sector based on an outcome of the beamforming reciprocity test. Reciprocity detection and utilization techniques for beamforming training

A device includes an input configured to receive a signal, wherein the signal includes at least one data block and a plurality of signal parts known to the device, a first signal part at the beginning of the data block and a second signal part at the end of the data block. The device further includes an equalizer and a pre-equalizer coupled between the input and the equalizer, wherein the pre-equalizer is configured to estimate a phase shift between the plurality of signal parts.
