A digital television system is connected to a mobile computing and communication device through an ad hoc communication link. A program broadcasted by the television system includes a plurality frames delivered in a sequential manner. A user can freeze a frame by employing the mobile device. The frame can then be transmitted to the mobile device and be redisplayed on the mobile device. The redisplayed frame includes visible symbols pointing to displayed items associated with advertising messages. The frame can also be stored in a photograph folder for the user to view the frame and associated advertising messages in a later time.

A media delivery system comprises a handheld computing and communication device, a media delivery unit and a user specific media library in a cloud. A data file including metadata of the media assets in the media library is stored in the handheld device. The device is used as a remote control device to control the operation of delivering media assets through the projector unit after the unit is detached from the device. The projector unit may also be used to connect to a media delivery unit such as a desktop projector, a TV terminal or an audio system for delivering media assets.

A wireless network for delivering a media asset includes a plurality of media and communication devices. The media asset further includes a video file and an audio file. One of the devices is a controlling device. The video file is delivered by a projector unit and the audio file is delivered by the devices. A portable computing device is disclosed. The device is based upon a laptop computer according to the preferred embodiment. The device comprises a twistable display screen. The device is operated as a general purpose computer when the display screen is pivoted to a position facing a keyboard. The device is used as a special purpose computer in a tablet form when the display is pivoted to a position on the top face of the device. The special purpose computer may be a media player, an e-book reader, a game console, a digital camera, a mobile phone, an e-mail reader and a web browser. The special purpose computer consumes substantially less power than the general purpose computer by employing a less complicated operating system.

Portable computer with a twistable display

A system for delivering advertisements based on a digital television system and a mobile communication device is disclosed. The television system and the mobile device are connected in ad hoc manner when a program is broadcasted by the television system. When a user is attracted by an item in the program, an instruction is sent from a remote control device of the television system or from the mobile device to send a data file including a product identifier to the mobile device. The user may use a cursor controlled by the remote control device or by the mobile device to locate the item. An icon is displayed on a display screen of the mobile device to represent the received data file. When the icon is selected, the mobile device is connected to a data manager in the Internet to deliver more product information to the user.

A video delivery system includes a tablet computer and one or two detachable projectors. In one embodiment, video files are transferred from the tablet computer to the projectors when they are connected. The tablet computer is used as a remote control that controls an operation of delivering a video portion of the video file through the projectors and an audio portion through the tablet computer in a synchronized manner. In one aspect, the two projectors may be positioned to project two adjacent screens that present different portions of images. In another embodiment, positions of the projectors attached to the tablet computer may be adjusted to deliver desired screens.

Handheld devices carried by persons in contacting with the device carried by a user form an ad hoc communication network at a location. Identities of all devices in the ad hoc network are broadcasted through the network. The user's device receives the identities and stores the received data in a log file. The log file may be sent to a central station after the device receives an authorized signal during an outbreak event of the contagious disease. The device may further include a body temperature automatic measuring system. The user's body temperature trend file may be sent together with the log file.

A system and method of delivering personalized media items to users of an interactive television is disclosed. The system comprises a television terminal, a computing device and a remote control device. The computing device further comprises a set top box. The computing device may be connected to a server through a communication network. The system stores a personal profile for each of its users. Personal mobile devices associated with the users are connected wirelessly to the computing device. Identities of the users may be transmitted from the personal mobile devices to the computing device. Media items are selected based upon the personal profiles according to a predetermined algorithm. Selected media items may be delivered using scrolling tickers displayed on the television terminal.

A system and method of delivering personalized media items to users of an interactive television is disclosed. The system comprises a television terminal, a computing device and a remote control device. The system stores a personal profile for each of its users. Personal mobile devices associated with the users are connected wirelessly to the computing device. Identities of the users may be transmitted from the personal mobile devices to the computing device. Media items are selected based upon the personal profiles according to a predetermined algorithm. Media items may be displayed using scrolling tickers on the television terminal. In one embodiment, a detailed content of a selected media item may be delivered either on the television terminal or on a display of one of the personal mobile device. In another embodiment, scrolling tickers may also be displayed on displays of the personal mobile devices.

A portable computing device is disclosed. The device may be based upon a laptop/a netbook computer according to the preferred embodiment. The device comprises a pivotable display screen. The device is operated as a general purpose computing device when the display screen is in a conventional unfolded position. The device is used as a media player when the display is pivoted to be on the top face of the device. The device operated as the media player with a low power processor consumes much less power than as the general purpose computing device.

A method to form a closely-spaced, vertical NMOS and PMOS transistor pair in an integrated circuit device is achieved. A substrate comprise silicon implanted oxide (SIMOX) wherein an oxide layer is sandwiched between underlying and overlying silicon layers. Ions are selectively implanted into a first part of the overlying silicon layer to form a drain, channel region, and source for an NMOS transistor. The drain is formed directly overlying the oxide layer, the channel region is formed overlying the drain, and the source is formed overlying the channel region. Ions are selectively implanted into a second part of the overlying silicon layer to form a drain, channel region, and source for a PMOS transistor. The drain is formed directly overlying the oxide layer, the PMOS channel region is formed overlying the drain, and the source is formed overlying the channel region. The PMOS transistor drain is in contact with said NMOS transistor drain. A gate trench is etched through the NMOS and PMOS sources and channel regions. The gate trench terminates at the NMOS and PMOS drains and exposes the sidewalls of the NMOS and PMOS channel regions. A gate oxide layer is formed overlying the NMOS and PMOS channel regions and lining the gate trench. A polysilicon layer is deposited and etched back to form polysilicon sidewalls and to thereby form gates for the closely-spaced, vertical NMOS and PMOS transistor pair.

A method for forming a gate dielectric having regions with different dielectric constants. A low-K dielectric layer is formed over a semiconductor structure. A dummy dielectric layer is formed over the low-K dielectric layer. The dummy dielectric layer and low-K dielectric layer are patterned to form an opening. The dummy dielectric layer is isontropically etched selectively to the low-K dielectric layer to form a stepped gate opening. A high-K dielectric layer is formed over the dummy dielectric and in the stepped gate opening. A gate electrode is formed on the high-K dielectric layer.
