In some examples, with respect to asymmetric-man-in-the-middle capture based application sharing protocol traffic recordation, a dynamic-link library that alters application programming interface calls with respect to communication between an application sharing protocol client and an application sharing protocol server may be injected into the application sharing protocol client. Based on the injected dynamic-link library, data from the communication between the application sharing protocol client and the application sharing protocol server may be ascertained. Further, based on the ascertained data, a test script may be generated to test operation of an application associated with the communication between the application sharing protocol client and the application sharing protocol server.

Examples relate to identifying heartbeat messages. In one example, a computing device may: obtain a plurality of messages that includes incoming messages and outgoing messages, each incoming message being sent from a server device to a client device, and each outgoing message being sent from the client device to the server device; identify candidate message pairs, each candidate message pair including one incoming message and one outgoing message; and identify a heartbeat message pair from the candidate message pairs based on at least one of: plurality of timestamps that includes i) incoming message timestamps that each correspond to one of the incoming messages, and ii) outgoing message timestamps that each correspond to one of the outgoing messages; a number of occurrences of each candidate message pair included a message log; or characteristics of data included in the incoming message and outgoing message of each candidate message pair.

Identifying heartbeat messages

A proxy tool can be controlled by injecting widget code into application code of a response to an application request. That response is returned client device such that when the application and widget code are processed, the widget code inserts a widget viewable with the rendered application code. Upon a determination that a subsequent request from the client device corresponds to user interaction with the widget and not the rendered application code, a state of the proxy tool is updated based on the sub sequent request.

An application under testing is initiated to record reactions of the application responsive to user input. If it is determined that the user input triggers an external process initiated by another program such that the other program precludes recording of the triggered reactions of the external process, an association with the external process is obtained.
