The disclosure relates to compositions and methods for improving the appearance of the skin. Compositions comprise at least one thermoplastic elastomer, at least one adhesive polymer, and at least one filler. Methods comprise applying the compositions to the skin to tighten the skin or hide skin imperfections by forming a film on the skin.

Compositions and methods for improving the appearance of the skin

Core-shell particles and methods of making and using thereof are described herein. The core is formed of or contains one or more hydrophobic materials or more hydrophobic materials. The shell is formed of or contains hyperbranched polyglycerol (HPG). The HPG coating can be modified to adjust the properties of the particles. Unmodified HPG coatings impart stealth properties to the particles which resist non-specific protein absorption and increase circulation in the blood. The hydroxyl groups on the HPG coating can be chemically modified to form functional groups that react with functional groups and adhere the particles to tissue, cells, or extracellular materials, such as proteins.

Hyperbranched polyglycerol-coated particles and methods of making and using thereof

Core-shell particles have a hydrophobic core and a shell formed of o containing hyperbranched polymers (HP). The HP can be covalently bound to the one or more materials that form the core or coated thereon. The HP coating can be modified to adjust the properties of the particles. For example, unmodified HP coatings resist non-specific protein absorption. Alternatively, the hydroxyl groups on the HP coating can be chemically modified to form functional groups that react with functional groups on tissue to adhere the particles to the tissue, cells, or extracellular materials, such as proteins. Such functional groups include, but not limited to, aldehydes, amines, and O-substituted oximes. Topical formulation for application to the skin contain these HP coated nanoparticles. In some embodiments, the particles include cosmetic, therapeutic, diagnostic, nutraceutical, and/or prophylactic agents, such as those used as sunblock compositions.

Topical formulation of hyperbranched polymer-coated particles

The invention relates to systems and methods for improving the appearance of the skin. The systems comprise 1) a skin-tightening composition comprising at least one thermoplastic elastomer and at least one adhesive polymer; and 2) a long-wear cosmetic composition comprising at least one silicone-polyamide copolymer, at least one silicone film former, and at least one volatile oil. Methods comprise applying the compositions of the systems on to the skin sequentially after a drying period.

Topical formulation of hyperbranched polyglycerol-coated particles thereof

Methods for providing broad spectrum photo protection to skin using antioxidants that provide UVA protection to skin are described. The methods include topically applying a cosmetic composition comprising: (a) at least one antioxidant having an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) of at least 10,000 &#x3bc;mol TE/g and a Hydroxyl Radical Absorbance Capacity (HORAC) of at least 2,600 &#x3bc;mol GAE/g; (b) at least one organic UV filter; and (c) a cosmetically acceptable carrier; wherein the cosmetic composition provides an increase in UVAPF of at least 30% relative to an otherwise identical cosmetic composition without the antioxidant(s) of (a). The disclosure also relates to the cosmetic compositions useful in the described methods.
