An electronically-controlled viewing angle switching device, including a liquid crystal layer, a first electrode, a second electrode, a plurality of first insulation patterns, and a plurality of second insulation patterns is provided. The first electrode and the second electrode are respectively located at a first side and a second side of the liquid crystal layer. The first insulation patterns are located at the first side of the liquid crystal layer. The second insulation patterns are located at the second side of the liquid crystal layer. Each of the first insulation patterns is at least partially overlapped with the corresponding second insulation pattern. A display device adopting the electronically-controlled viewing angle switching device is also provided. The electronically-controlled viewing angle switching device and the display device provide a good anti-peed effect from a side viewing angle.

Electronically-controlled viewing angle switching device and display device

A display device includes a view angle switching module and a display module. The view angle switching module includes a first polarizer and a view angle adjustment layer. The display module and the view angle switching module are overlapped. The display module includes a display layer and a second polarizer. The view angle adjustment layer is located between the first polarizer and the second polarizer. An average degree of polarization of the first polarizer for light with a wavelength falling within a first wavelength band is less than an average degree of polarization of the second polarizer for the light with the wavelength falling within the first wavelength band. The display device may provide a privacy function and images with good image quality.

Display device

The invention relates to an electrically controllable viewing angle switch device and a display apparatus. The switch device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer, spacers, a first alignment film, a second alignment film, a first polarizer, and a second polarizer and has a light transmission region. The second substrate is disposed opposite to the first substrate. The liquid crystal layer and the spacers are located between the first substrate and the second substrate in the light transmission region. The spacers are fixed on the first or second substrate. The first polarizer and the second polarizer are disposed on opposite sides of the liquid crystal layer. The axial directions of the transmission axis of the first polarizer and the transmission axis of the second polarizer are parallel or perpendicular to the alignment direction of the first alignment film and the second alignment film.

Electrically controllable viewing angle switch device and display apparatus

A viewing angle limiting device, including a polymer substrate and a plurality of dye molecules, is provided. The dye molecules are dispersedly arranged in the polymer substrate. The dye molecules have a first absorption coefficient in a thickness direction of the polymer substrate. The dye molecules have a second absorption coefficient in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction. A ratio of the first absorption coefficient to the second absorption coefficient is between 10 and 1000. A manufacturing method of the viewing angle limiting device and a display device including the viewing angle limiting device are also provided. The display device, the viewing angle limiting device, and the manufacturing method thereof provided by the invention have a large viewing angle filtering effect and have higher light transmittance in a viewing angle direction.

Display device, viewing angle limiting device and manufacturing method thereof

A backlight module including a light guide plate, a light source, an optical film, a diffusion sheet, a first prism sheet and a second prism sheet is provided. The light guide plate has a light incident surface and a light emitting surface connected to each other. The light source is disposed on a side of the light incident surface. The optical film is overlapped with the light emitting surface and has a plurality of optical microstructures facing the light emitting surface. The diffusion sheet is disposed between the light guide plate and the optical film. The first prism sheet and the second prism sheet are overlapped with the optical film and are positioned on a side of the optical film being far away from the light guide plate. A display apparatus adopting the backlight module is also provided.

Backlight module having an optical film and display apparatus having the same

A backlight module including a light guide plate, a light source, a prism sheet and a light absorbing sheet is provided. The light guide plate has a light incident surface, a light emitting surface connected to the light incident surface and a bottom surface opposite to the light emitting surface. At least one of the light emitting surface and the bottom surface of the light guide plate is disposed with a plurality of micro lens structures. The light source is disposed on a side of the light incident surface of the light guide plate. The prism sheet is overlapped with the light emitting surface of the light guide plate and has a plurality of prism structures facing the light emitting surface with an extending direction parallel to the light incident surface. The light absorbing sheet is disposed on a side of the bottom surface of the light guide plate.

Backlight module and display apparatus

A display device includes an electrically controlled viewing angle switching device including two polarizers and a liquid crystal cell disposed between the two polarizers. The liquid crystal cell includes two alignment layers and a liquid crystal material layer disposed between the two alignment layers and including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. A direction of an optical axis of the liquid crystal molecules and a viewing angle control direction of the display device have an included angle &#x3b8;of 70-110 degrees. Two alignment directions of the two alignment layers and the viewing angle control direction have an included angle of 90&#xb1;20 degrees and an included angle of 270&#xb1;20 degrees, respectively. Included angles between directions of transmission axis of the two polarizers and alignment directions of the two alignment layers are selected from one of 0&#xb1;5 degrees and 90&#xb1;5 degrees.

A viewing angle switch module including a viewing angle limiting device and a first electrically controlled viewing angle switch device is provided. A plurality of first block walls of the viewing angle limiting device are arranged along a first direction and extended in a second direction. The first electrically controlled viewing angle switch device has a first liquid crystal layer, a first polarizer and a second polarizer. An angle of 90&#xb1;20 degrees is included between an optical axis of the first liquid crystal layer and the first direction. The first polarizer and the second polarizer are respectively located at two opposite sides of the first liquid crystal layer. An absorption axis of the first polarizer and a, absorption axis of the second polarizer are parallel to or perpendicular to the first direction. A display apparatus adopting the viewing angle switch module is also provided.

Viewing angle switch module and display apparatus

The disclosure provides a display device and an optical compensation module. The display device includes a light emitting display module and the optical compensation module. The optical compensation module is disposed on the light emitting display module along the transmission direction of an image beam emitted by the light emitting display module, and includes: a first polarizing layer and an optical compensation layer. The optical compensation layer is disposed between the light emitting display module and the first polarizing layer along the transmission direction of the image beam and has a first compensation area and a second compensation area which forms a pattern, wherein the phase compensation value of the first compensation area and the phase compensation value of the second compensation area are different. The display device and the optical compensation module have the effect of displaying the pattern on the display panel at a specific angle.

A backlight module including a light guide plate, a light source, an optical film, a first prism sheet and a second prism sheet is provided. The light guide plate has a light incident surface and a light emitting surface connected to each other. The light source is disposed on a side of the light incident surface. The optical film is overlapped with the light emitting surface and has a plurality of optical microstructures facing the light emitting surface. An angle between the extending direction of the optical microstructures and the light incident surface is 90 degrees or between 45 degrees and 90 degrees. The first prism sheet and the second prism sheet are overlapped with the optical film and are positioned on a side of the optical film being far away from the light guide plate. A display apparatus adopting the backlight module is also provided.

An anti-peeping control device includes two polarizers and a liquid crystal box disposed between the two polarizers. An included angle of 5 to 15 degrees is formed between the axial directions of the transmission axes of the two polarizers, or the axial directions of the transmission axes of the two polarizers are parallel to each other but not parallel and not perpendicular to any side edge of the polarizer. The axial directions of the transmission axes of the two polarizers are perpendicular or parallel to the alignment direction of the alignment layer of the liquid crystal box. The anti-peeping control device can use an electronic control method to switch the anti-peeping effect. A backlight module and display using the anti-peeping control device are also proposed.

Anti-peeping control device and backlight module and display using same

A display device and a method for adjusting a chromaticity of a display beam are provided. A display device includes a light source module, a viewing angle switching module and a display module. The light source module includes a light source used for providing a light beam, and an illumination beam is formed by the light beam through the light source module, wherein the chromaticity of the light beam falls within a first region in the CIE 1931 xy chromaticity coordinates. The first region is a region enclosed by four coordinate points, and values of the four coordinate points of the first region are (0.2535, 0.2160), (0.2656, 0.2590), (0.2795, 0.2590), and (0.2674, 0.2160), respectively. The viewing angle switching module and the display module are located on the transmission path of the illumination beam.

Display device and method for adjusting chromaticity of display beam

A viewing angle switchable device including an absorptive polarizer, a reflective polarizer and an electrically controlled viewing angle switching element is provided. A transmission axis of the reflective polarizer is parallel to a transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer. The electrically controlled viewing angle switching element is disposed between the absorptive polarizer and the reflective polarizer and includes two transparent substrates, two transparent conductive layers and a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules. When there is a potential difference between the two transparent conductive layers, an orthogonal projection of an optical axis of each of the plurality of liquid crystal molecules on the absorptive polarizer is parallel to or perpendicular to the transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer and the transmission axis of the reflective polarizer. A viewing angle switchable display module including the viewing angle switchable device is also provided.

Viewing angle switchable device and viewing angle switchable display module

A display device comprises a backlight module, a display panel disposed on the backlight module, and an electrically controlled viewing angle switching device disposed on the backlight module and disposed in a stacking manner with the display panel. The display panel comprises a panel module and a first polarizer. There is an air layer or a bonding layer between the electrically controlled viewing angle switching device and the display panel. The panel module is disposed between the first polarizer and the electrically controlled viewing angle switching device. The electrically controlled viewing angle switching device comprises a liquid crystal cell, at least one phase compensation film and two second polarizers. The liquid crystal cell is disposed between the two second polarizers. The display device can switch between an anti-peeping mode and a sharing mode in an electrically controlled manner.

A viewing angle switchable display module includes an organic light-emitting display (OLED) panel, a viewing angle switchable device disposed on the OLED panel, and a quarter wave plate disposed between the OLED panel and the viewing angle switchable device. The viewing angle switchable device includes an absorptive polarizer, a reflective polarizer, and an electrically controlled viewing angle switching element. A transmission axis of the reflective polarizer is parallel to a transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer. The electrically controlled viewing angle switching element is disposed between the absorptive polarizer and the reflective polarizer and includes two conductive layers and a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules. When there is a potential difference between the two conductive layers, an orthogonal projection of an optical axis of each of the liquid crystal molecules on the absorptive polarizer is parallel to or perpendicular to the transmission axis of the absorptive polarizer.
