A locking mechanism includes a plate and a pawl. The plate includes a peripheral lip having an interior face that defines a plurality of teeth. The pawl defines a central axis and includes a plurality of pawl teeth including a first middle tooth and a second middle tooth. The first middle tooth is positioned on a first side of the central axis and has a first flat face facing the central axis and a first curved face facing away from the central axis. The second middle tooth is positioned on an opposing second side of the central axis and has a second flat face facing the central axis and a second curved face facing away from the central axis. The pawl is positionable between (i) a first position where the pawl does not engage with the plate and (ii) a second position where the pawl engages with the plate.

A track assembly includes a first track, a second track, and a latch assembly. The first track includes a plurality of first apertures. The second track includes a plurality of second apertures. The latch assembly includes a latch plate and an anti-chuck component. The latch plate includes a plurality of first teeth that selectively extend through the plurality of first apertures and through a subset of the plurality of second apertures. A gap is present between at least one of the plurality of first teeth and a side of a respective one of the plurality of first apertures when the latch plate is in the engaged position. The anti-chuck component is coupled to the latch plate. The latch plate includes one or more second teeth that engage at least one of the plurality of first apertures to close the gap.

A method of making a shock tower assembly includes forming a bracket from continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic, where the bracket has a load bearing portion and an overmolded portion. The method further includes placing the bracket in an injection tool, injecting a polymer composite material into the injection tool to surround the and overmolded portion of the bracket, and removing a finished component from the injection tool, wherein the finished component comprises the load bearing portion of the bracket extending outwardly from the finished component and the overmolded portion of the bracket that is surrounded by the polymer composite material.

The CFR material may be in a continuous piece along all four frame members to provide structural rigidity that is superior to that of separate pieces of CFR material. The pieces of CFR material may define a foundation portion of the seat frame and may be at least partly embedded in a thermoplastic accessory mounting portion, which is also part of the frame. An overmolding process can be used to at least partially encapsulate the CFR material in the accessory mounting portion with thermoplastic material along opposite sides of the CFR material. The overmolding process can also be used to embed recliner support plates in the composite frame. The frame may have an S-shaped cross section, facilitating simplified mold design and providing beam-like rigidity along multiple directions.

The motion-control links allow pivotal motion, and at least one of the links includes a spheroidal joint. A link foundation extends between and interconnects the upper and lower motion-control links and is coupled to the support frame so that the link foundation does not move during seat shell deformation. The shell-motion controller may be pre-assembled as part of a backrest or the motion-control links may be formed after the link foundation is attached to the support frame.
