Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for simultaneous Long Term Evolution (LTE) and New Radio (NR) Physical Resource Block (PRB) scheduling in a network. In one embodiment a method includes transmitting a NR synchronization signal via Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN); wherein the NR uses standard LTE subframes with Cell Reference Signal (CRS) rate-matching and additional Demodulation Reference Signal (DMRS) position; dynamically sharing a sub-frame between LTE and 5G NR; and scheduling simultaneous LIE and NR PRB within 1 ms granularity, implemented within a Virtual Baseband Unit (VBBU) facilitated via a Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) Gateway (HNG).

4G/5G dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) analysis

Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for providing an OpenRAN solution suite. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed, the method including communicating, by an all G COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) Base Band Unit (BBU), with a plurality of different G user devices; communicating, by a software platform, with the all G COTS BBU, wherein the software platform includes virtualized software providing open RAN controller functionality, network orchestrator functionality, and SON edge core functionality; and communicating, by the software platform, with a plurality of different G core networks.

OpenRAN solution suite

A gateway for X2 interface communication is provided, including: an X2 internal interface for communicating with, and coupled to, a plurality of radio access networks (RANs); and an X2 external interface for communicating with, and coupled to, a destination outside of the plurality of RANs, the X2 external interface further including a single X2 endpoint for the plurality of radio access networks, such that the X2 external interface provides a single interface for an external macro cell or core network to interact with the plurality of radio access networks. The gateway may further include a handover module for maintaining X2 signaling associations and transactions for incoming and outbound handovers, including X2 to S1 and S1 to X2 translation.

Federated X2 gateway

A method for utilizing quality of service information in a network with tunneled backhaul is disclosed, comprising: establishing a backhaul bearer at a base station with a first core network, the backhaul bearer established by a backhaul user equipment (UE) at the base station, the backhaul bearer having a single priority parameter, the backhaul bearer terminating at a first packet data network gateway in the first core network; establishing an encrypted internet protocol (IP) tunnel between the base station and a coordinating gateway in communication with the first core network and a second core network; facilitating, for at least one UE attached at the base station, establishment of a plurality of UE data bearers encapsulated in the secure IP tunnel, each with their own QCI; and transmitting prioritized data of the plurality of UE data bearers via the backhaul bearer and the coordinating gateway to the second core network.

End-to-end prioritization for mobile base station

A method may be disclosed in accordance with some embodiments, comprising: receiving, at a virtualizing gateway, a first service request from a first user equipment (UE) via a first eNodeB; creating, at the virtualizing gateway, an association from each of a plurality of UE identifiers to a desired core network; applying, at the virtualizing gateway, a first filter using a first UE identifier of the first UE, based on the association; forwarding, at the virtualizing gateway, based on the applied first filter, the first service request from the first UE to the first core network; receiving, at the virtualizing gateway, via a second eNodeB, a second service request from a second user equipment (UE); applying, at the virtualizing gateway, a second filter using a second UE identifier of the second UE, based on the association; and forwarding, at the virtualizing gateway, based on the applied second filter, the second service request from the second UE to the second core network.

SIM whitelisting and multi-operator core networks

Systems, methods and computer software are disclosed for providing Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) with mesh access. A multi Radio Access Technology (RAT) base station gateway having a MPTCP proxy, proxies an initial MPTCP connection from a User Equipment (UE). The multi-RAT base station gateway determines if the UE is capable of MPTCP to provide MPTCP. When the UE is capable of MPTCP, then the multi-Rat base station provides a Wi-Fi connection and an LTE connection. When the UE is not capable of MPTCP, then the multi-RAT base station provides an LTE connection.

Multipath TCP with mesh access

A method for congestion control at an eNodeB is described, comprising detecting congestion at an eNodeB and entering a congestion control mode, receiving, at the eNodeB, a new user equipment (UE) connection request that contains a radio resource control (RRC) establishment cause, and using the RRC establishment cause for identifying a congestion management strategy, the congestion management strategy comprising one of initiating a handover for an existing LTE bearer, or redirecting the new UE connection request to a 3G nodeB.

Content-aware inter-RAT RAB steering

A system is disclosed, comprising: a solar panel; an electric power supply source; a wireless fronthaul access point coupled to a radio mast and in communication with a remote baseband unit, the wireless fronthaul access point further comprising a first millimeter wave wireless interface; a self-organizing network module in communication with a coordinating server; and an antenna-integrated radio for providing access to user equipments (UEs), mounted within line of sight on the radio mast with the wireless fronthaul access point, the antenna-integrated radio further comprising: a second millimeter wave wireless interface configured to receive the digital I and Q signaling information from the remote baseband unit wirelessly via the wireless fronthaul access point, wherein the wireless fronthaul access point thereby wirelessly couples the remote baseband unit and the antenna-integrated radio. Synchronization is used to pack used resource blocks to reduce the duty cycle of the PAs, thereby reducing power.

Base station power management using solar panel and battery forecasting

Systems and methods are disclosed for a 3G gateway. In one embodiment, a system is disclosed, comprising a gateway situated between a 3G radio access network (RAN) and a core network, the gateway providing resource management for a nodeB, and providing routing and node management for another base station, wherein the base station may be configured to provide, as a virtual RNC, radio resource control, power control, ciphering, and multiplexing of multiple users onto a transmission path for a first mobile device attached to the nodeB; the gateway may be configured to relay traffic for a second mobile device attached to the base station; and the gateway may be configured to relay traffic to the core network from both the nodeB and the base station via an IuCS interface and an IuPS interface.

Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a 5G interoperability architecture. In one embodiment, a system is disclosed, comprising: at least one Radio Access network (RAN); at least one core network; and a gateway in communication with the RAN and the core network, the gateway including: a Radio Access Network (RAN) interface for communicating with the at least one RAN; a core network interface for communicating with the at least one core network; and a processor configured to: process 5G signaling received from the at least one RAN on the RAN interface and provide core signaling to at least one core network; and process signaling received from the at least one core on the core network interface and provide 5G RAN signaling to at least one RAN.

5G interoperability architecture

The use of wireless backhaul poses special challenges for in-vehicle base stations. Users that are connected to an in-vehicle base station expect continuous service, even as the in-vehicle base station passes in and out of different wireless backhaul coverage zones, such as when a train passes from a train station with good coverage to a tunnel with poor coverage. The base station thus needs seamless backhaul handover. A system that enables an in-vehicle base station to receive continuous service across different backhaul coverage zones is needed. To solve this problem, a system enabling handover is described. The system involves double-tunneling mobile device data packets in an ESP-UDP IPsec tunnel encapsulated in a GTP-U tunnel. Traffic is transmitted from a mobile device to a specially configured base station that encapsulates mobile device data packets and sends them to the network via wireless backhaul using an LTE UE modem connection.

A method for localizing a voice call is disclosed, comprising: receiving an originating leg setup message for an originating leg bearer from the first base station for a first user equipment (UE); creating a first call correlation identifier and storing the first call correlation identifier in association with the first UE; extracting a second call correlation identifier from a terminating leg setup message for a terminating leg bearer received from the core network; determining a real time protocol (RTP) localization status for the originating leg bearer and the terminating leg bearer based on matching the second call correlation identifier of the terminating leg against the stored first call correlation identifier of the originating leg; and sending transport layer assignment messages to the first base station to redirect RTP packets from the first UE to the second UE via the terminating leg bearer without the RTP packets transiting the core network.
