An electrical connector includes an insulating body, a number of conductive terminals, an adapter circuit board and a number of cables. The insulating body includes a mating surface and a receiving slot. Each conductive terminal includes a mating portion protruding into the receiving slot and a tail portion. The conductive terminals includes a number of first signal terminals and a number of second signal terminals. Each tail portion of the first signal terminals includes a connection portion. The adapter circuit board includes a first insertion portion and a second insertion portion. The first insertion portion includes a number of first mating conductive pads in contact with the tail portions of the second signal terminals. The second insertion portion includes a number of second mating conductive pads for mating with a mating electrical connector. A connector assembly having the electrical connector is also disclosed.

A connector assembly includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector includes a first insulating body, a number of first conductive terminals, and an adapter circuit board. The adapter circuit board includes an input end and an output end. The input end includes an input portion electrically connected to the first conductive terminals. The output end includes an insertion portion protruding beyond the first insulating body. The second connector includes a second insulating body and a number of second conductive terminals. The first connector and the second connector further include locking structures to prevent the first connector from being separated from the second connector.

An adapter circuit board includes an input end and an output end. The input end includes an input portion for connecting with a first connector header. The output end includes an output portion and an insertion portion for being inserted into a second connector. The output portion is used for directly or indirectly electrically connecting with cables to transmit high-speed signals. This setting improves the signal integrity of high-speed signals during transmission and therefore improves the quality of data transmission. In addition, the present disclosure also relates to a first connector and a connector assembly having the adapter circuit board.

A connector assembly includes a first connector and a second connector mated with each other. The first connector includes a first insulating body, a number of first conductive terminals, and an adapter circuit board. The adapter circuit board includes an input end and an output end. The input end includes an input portion electrically connected to the first conductive terminals. The output end includes an insertion portion protruding beyond the first insulating body. The second connector includes a second insulating body and a number of second conductive terminals. The first connector and the second connector further include locking structures to prevent the first connector from being separated from the second connector.

An electrical connector includes a conductive body, a terminal module and a grounding element. The conductive body includes a mating cavity and a slot for fixing the grounding element. The terminal module includes an insulating block, a plurality of signal terminals and a grounding piece mounted to the insulating block. The grounding piece includes a ground terminal. The ground terminal includes a ground contact portion at least partially located in the mating cavity. The grounding element includes a ground mating portion at least partially located in the mating cavity. The ground contact portion and the ground mating portion are adapted to be in contact with a same ground pin of a mating connector. As a result, a stable loop can be formed and the shielding performance of the electrical connector is improved. Besides, an electrical connector assembly having the electrical connector is disclosed.

Electrical connector and electrical connector assembly with improved shielding performance

A terminal module includes an insulating member, a number of conductive terminals, and a conductive plastic. Each conductive terminal includes a fixing portion. The conductive terminals include a group of signal terminals, a first ground terminal and a second ground terminal. The terminal module includes a first rib, a second rib and a groove. The first rib is adjacent to but not in contact with the fixing portion of the first ground terminal. The second rib is adjacent to but not in contact with the fixing portion of the second ground terminal. The present disclosure also relates to a backplane connector having the terminal module. Compared with the prior art, by making the first ground terminal and the second ground terminal non-conducting, it easier to determine the accuracy of the electrical test.
