In some embodiments, there is provided a method including creating at least one reusable user interface metadata definition for at least one user interface object; storing the at least one reusable user interface metadata definition; creating at least a portion of a user interface page, which includes the at least one user interface object, using the at least one reusable user interface metadata definition; overriding the at least one reusable user interface metadata definition; bundling into a container the least one reusable user interface metadata definition with other metadata definitions; and deploying the container of the at least one reusable user interface metadata definition and the other metadata definitions to a device where a metadata interpreter can generate at least one user interface object associated with the at least one reusable metadata definition. Reusable user interface in metadata driven application

A framework for developing applications is described herein. In accordance with one aspect, an application is developed using an integrated development environment (IDE) with a preview function. The preview function may be selected to preview the application. In response to the selection of the preview function, the IDE causes a companion application on an end-user device to be launched onto an application simulator on the end-user device. The companion application is a container application that includes plugins of local resources. The application may be run in the companion application, where the application may access local resources provided by the companion application.

Data model display and modification techniques are provided that can be executed on a wireless computing device. A data model display and modification technique includes wirelessly receiving a data model definition at a wireless communication device. A visual representation of the model definition is displayed on a display of the wireless device. User interactions with the visual representation of the model definition are recorded through the wireless device to alter the data model definition. The altered data model definition is stored, and transmitted to another device.
