An infusion adapter for connection with an infusion fluid container includes a connection portion configured to engage an injection port of an infusion fluid container, and a port configured to connect to an intravenous line, with the port in fluid communication with the connection portion. The connection portion includes a retaining ring extending radially outward from the connection portion, with the retaining ring configured to securely connect the infusion adapter to the infusion fluid container to substantially prevent disconnection of the infusion adapter from the infusion fluid container once the infusion adapter is connected to the infusion fluid container. The retaining ring includes an indicator configured to provide visualization of insertion of the connection portion into an injection port of an infusion fluid container.

A system includes a vial access device including a spike, with the vial access device attachable to a first vial defining a first vial size, and an adapter transitionable between a shield position in which the adapter is attachable to the vial access device such that the adapter shields the spike of the vial access device and a vial position in which the adapter is attachable to a second vial defining a second vial size, the second vial size different than the first vial size.

A syringe adapter includes a housing having a first end and a second end and defining an interior space, a seal arrangement received within the interior space of the housing, a connector body positioned adjacent the first end of the housing and configured to be connected with a syringe barrel with the connector body secured to the housing and rotatable relative to the housing in first and second directions, and a cannula secured to the connector body. The connector body is axially fixed relative to the housing. The at least one channel having a first portion extending in an axial direction and a shoulder adjacent to the first end of the first connection member that defines a channel entry. The at least one channel having a second portion extending in a transverse direction relative to the axial direction. The connection apparatus further including a second connection member having a first end and a second end and at least one protrusion adjacent the first end. The shoulder is configured to guide the at least one protrusion of the second connection member into the channel entry regardless of the orientation of the at least one protrusion relative to the channel entry.

A connector system for a medical device includes a first connector having an elongate opening, and a second connector including a lock portion, where the first connector is movable relative to the second connector between an initial position where the first connector is not in fluid communication with the second connector and an activated position where the first connector is in fluid communication with the second connector. The system also includes a locking member connected to the first connector. The locking member is transitionable between an unlocked position where the second connector is movable within the elongate opening of the first connector and a locked position where the locking member is configured to engage the lock portion of the second connector to lock the first connector to the second connector in the activated position. The locking member comprises a spring body received by the elongate opening of the first connector.

At least a portion of the collet is received within the housing. The collet includes a body defining a passageway, a membrane received by the passageway, and a locking member connected to the body of the collet. The membrane has a body with a first end and a second end. The body of the membrane defines a passageway. The collet is movable from a first position where the locking member is open to receive a mating connector to a second position where radially outward movement of the locking member is restricted.

Syringe assemblies having a passive disabling system to prevent reuse are provided. According to one or more embodiments, the syringe assembly comprises a barrel, plunger rod and detachable thumb press wherein the plunger rod further comprises flexible locking petals that lock the plunger rod within the barrel, a ramp disposed adjacent to the locking element, and one or more frangible connection or break point at the proximal end of the plunger rod disposed either inside the thumb press or immediately adjacent to the thumb press to separate the thumb press from the main body of the plunger rod when a user applies sufficient proximal force to the plunger rod after it has been locked within the barrel.

A medical connector system including a first connector and a second connector. The first connector has a housing, a biasing member, and at least one projection. The second connector has at least one groove for receiving the at least one projection. The proximal end of the second connector is configured to be at least partially disposed within the distal end of the housing of the first connector. Upon application and release of a first set of opposing axial forces applied to the connector system, the first connector is locked to the second connector and, upon application and release of a second set of opposing axial forces, the first connector is released from the second connector. The connectors may include indicators to show when the connector system is in the locked position.

Provided herein is a plunger assembly for advancing a plunger through a barrel, such as the barrel of a pre-filled syringe. The plunger assembly includes a stopper adapter defining an aperture. The stopper adapter includes a first restraining member adjacent to the aperture. The plunger assembly also includes a plunger rod having a first end, a second end, and a plunger rod head disposed adjacent the first end of the plunger rod. The plunger rod head includes a second restraining member engageable with the first restraining member of the stopper adapter. The plunger assembly is configured such that as the plunger rod head is moved axially within the aperture of the stopper adapter, the first restraining member of the stopper adapter engages the second restraining member of the plunger rod head to secure the plunger rod head within the aperture. A syringe assembly with a plunger assembly is also disclosed.
