In some implementations, a first network element in the communication network may be configured to determine a plurality of transmission profiles for a data flow and transmit these profiles to a second network element. The second network element may adaptively select an active transmission profile from the plurality of transmission profiles for configuring the transmission of the data flow. The second network element may further modify the active transmission profile from the plurality of transmission profiles during an active transmission of the data flow without involving additional decision by the first network element.
