resistance (RAG) genes are provided by this invention, along with methods for identifying their presence using marker-assisted selection. Varieties ofandhaving resistance tohave been identified. The RAG genes, as well as the methods, aphid-resistant varieties, and markers disclosed herein may be used to breed new elite lines expressing soybean aphid resistance.

Provided herein is a novel human astrovirus, its nucleic acid sequence, as well as methods to detect and diagnose the presence of the astrovirus.

Identification of astrovirus VA1 associated with gastroenteritis in humans

A transgenic mouse containing disruptions in both vitamin D alleles and lacking vitamin D receptor activity is described. The transgenic mouse displays perioral and periorbital alopecia, hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, and bone demineralization. The transgenic mouse is useful for screening treatments for a number of conditions associated with vitamin D receptor related disorders including skin disorders, immune system disorders, and proliferative disorders.
