This application provides a method for allocating an IP address, including: establishing, by a session management network element, a session for a terminal apparatus, where the session is used for transmitting a data packet via a control plane network element; allocating, by the session management network element, an IP address to the terminal apparatus; and sending, by the session management network element, the data packet to the terminal apparatus via a mobility management network element, where the data packet includes the IP address. In a case in which the terminal apparatus can obtain the IP address without establishing an additional connection channel, the terminal apparatus can obtain the IP address more flexibly, and occupation of excessive signaling resources can be avoided.

Aspects relate to estimating occupancy of a wireless communication channel. A first user equipment (e.g., a first sidelink device) may transmit to a second user equipment (e.g., a second sidelink device) via one or more subchannels allocated for device-to-device communication. The second user equipment may also transmit to the first user equipment via one or more of the subchannels. To mitigate interference on the subchannels, the second user equipment may measure received signal strength on the subchannels to estimate the occupancy of the subchannels (e.g., by calculating a channel busy ratio). In addition, the second user equipment may account for signal leakage from a first subchannel (e.g., on which the first user equipment is transmitting data) onto a second subchannel. As a result, subchannels that may otherwise be indicated as occupied due to leakage may instead by indicated as unoccupied, thereby improving the accuracy of the channel occupancy estimation.

An example embodiment may provide a method to be performed by a base station and/or a network node, and relevant devices. The method may include: acquiring channel related information of a target user equipment (UE); acquiring a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) determined based on MCS related information, the MCS related information being acquired by an artificial intelligence (AI) network based on the channel related information; and, transmitting the determined MCS to the target UE, the target UE comprising an edge UE, the number of MCS change value of the edge UE being greater than the number of MCS change value of a center UE. The steps in this scheme can be implemented by a trained artificial intelligence method. The corresponding MCS related information may be acquired by an AI network based on the channel related information of the target UE, and the MCS of the target UE may then be determined by using the acquired MCS related information. Since the MCS related information acquired by the AI network can accurately reflect the channel state of the target UE, the determined MCS is more accurate, and the user throughput is thus improved.
