User equipment in close proximity may transfer data and control information. For example, the user equipment may exchange data or data sets between each other. Each user equipment can receive and transmit data using radio access technologies. A group of user equipments may include active user equipment and passive user equipment. Active user equipment connects with one or more base stations and transfers data on a wireless communication network via the base station. The active user equipment may communicate with other active user equipment and passive user equipment. Passive user equipment may not connect to any base station and/or the wireless communication network and may communicate with other passive user equipment and active user equipment (e.g., via a sidelink, peer-to-peer, or device-to-device channel).

Unified operation for user equipment groups

Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform beam failure detection. The UE may establish communication with a base station. The UE may determine one or more beams to perform downlink communication from the base station. The UE may receive, from the base station, an indication of a first type of downlink reference signals to perform beam failure detection. The UE may perform signal quality measurements for the one or more beams using the first type of downlink reference signals. The UE may determine beam failure of at least one beam of the one or more beams based on said performing signal quality measurements.

Beam failure detection

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device and a cellular base station to support common analog beam steering for band groups. The wireless device may provide an indication of analog beam steering capability of the wireless device to the cellular base station. For example, the wireless device may support a limited number of analog beams for each of one or more band groups. The cellular base station may select beam configuration information for the wireless device based at least in part on the indication of analog beam steering capability of the wireless device. This may include selecting a common beam for multiple component carriers for the wireless device based on the wireless device's analog beam steering capability. The cellular base station may provide the beam configuration information to the wireless device.

Methods and systems for controlling uplink (UL) transmission power of a user equipment (UE) electronic device includes determining, using the UE electronic device, that a maximum power availability for a transmission between the UE and a wireless network node is not appropriate to current conditions. Based on the determination that maximum power availability is not appropriate the UE electronic device sends a request to the wireless network node to reduce power for communication with the wireless network node. Based on the request, the UE electronic device communicates at a reduced power level for communications with the wireless network node.

A device may wirelessly transmit a physical RACH, and a first message on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), in a first step of a 2-step random access channel (RACH) procedure. The device may receive a second message on a physical downlink shared channel in response to successful detection of the first message, in a second step of the 2-step RACH procedure. When detection of the first message is unsuccessful, the device may be instructed to fall back to a 4-step RACH procedure. The device may be configured with one or more first message transmit opportunities (PO), one of which may include one or more PUSCH resource units (PRUs). Some of the communication parameters of the device may be configured to be common for each PO, while other communication parameters may be configured per PRU. Respective new Radio Network Temporary ID values may be defined for the first message and second message.

A first communication device generates a first physical layer (PHY) data unit that includes information indicating a capability to use a channel bandwidth greater than a maximum channel bandwidth of the first communication device, and transmits the first PHY data unit to a second communication device during an association process with the second communication device. The first communication device generates a second PHY data unit that includes information indicating a capability to use at most the maximum channel bandwidth of the first communication device, and transmits the second PHY data unit to the second communication device when the first communication device is associated with the second communication device.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for radio link monitoring for multiple DCI based transmissions. The UE may receive, from a network node, a configuration for multiple downlink control information (DCI) mode operation in which a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) is scheduled by multiple DCIs from a number of control resource sets (CORESETs). The number of CORESETs may exceed a number of CORESETs the UE can monitorable. The UE may determine a set of CORESETs to monitor based, at least in part, on one or more CORESET properties. The set of CORESETs to monitor may be less than the number of CORESETs. Additionally, the UE may monitor the set of CORESETs for at least one of a radio link failure or a beam failure.

Radio link monitoring for multi-DCI based transmissions

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for triggering a change in beam configuration based on UL beam conditions. The UE may detect an unsafe UL beam condition for an UL beam based, at least in part, on an MPE level being exceeded by the UL beam. In response to the detection, remedial actions that to alleviate the unsafe UL beam condition may be performed. The remedial actions may prioritize UL beam quality over DL beam quality and may include reducing a transmit power of the UL beam based on an MPR, triggering an intra-panel antenna switch to a candidate UL beam that satisfies one or more conditions for intra-panel beam switching, triggering an inter-panel antenna switch to a candidate UL beam that satisfies one or more conditions for intra-panel beam switching, and/or signaling a beam failure to a network serving the UE.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for beam reporting to facilitate multiple transmission and reception points, multi-TRPs, transmission schemes. A UE may receive, from a base station a configuration to report a beam quality based on at least one of a first reporting scheme and a second reporting scheme or a configuration of measurement resources for each TRP of a plurality of TRPs. The UE may report the beam quality based on the configuration or L1 measurements for multiple beam pairs and a recommended and/or assumed transmission scheme based on the configured measurement resources. The first reporting scheme may include the UE reporting at least one L1 measurement for multiple beams and the second reporting scheme may include the UE reporting at least one L1 measurement for multiple beam pairs. The recommended and/or assumed transmission scheme may be a non-coherent-joint transmission (NC-JT) transmission scheme and/or a single frequency network (SFN) transmission scheme.

Method for beam reporting for multi-TRP transmission schemes

An electronic device may be provided with wireless circuitry and control circuitry. The wireless circuitry may include a phased antenna array. Sensors and other circuitry in the electronic device may generate sensor data such as accelerometer data, gyroscope data, magnetometer data, location data, and spatial ranging data. The wireless circuitry may establish and maintain one or more wireless links with external devices based on the sensor data as the device moves over time. For example, the wireless circuitry may perform physical layer beam adjustments, inter-radio access technology handovers, intra-radio access technology handovers, and/or dual connectivity adjustments based on the sensor data. This may allow the device to maintain one or more wireless links without having to sweep the signal beam of the phased antenna array over its entire field of view each time the device has moved.
